What mounting depth for the front and back
How much of a mounting depth do we have for the front and rear speakers. Thanks.

my guess is 1 1/2" for the fronts & unlimited for the rears. i had to make a baffle for the fronts (see "my new speakers" thread) & i don't use the rears. u can also have kick panels made on the side of your floorboards but that can get pricey. also you may have trouble finding speakers that fit exactly like stock. no matter what anyone says, all the trim rings for replacement speakers are too small & won't work. here is the only speaker that will fit exactly like stock:

1.5" is not much at all. You wont find any speakers that will drop right in then with that speaker depth.

i know. this is why i made baffles in the front doors. if i didn't, my windows wouldn't be able to roll down!!

as stated before in other threads, this is already a company that makes speaker brackets that give you an extra 1/2". He charges $5 for the pair and that includes shipping. Something like that.

here is a link to crutchfield with their newest adapter plate. it clearly shows that you can mount a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 onto the plate but the plate fits the 7" factory holes. only $19. check it out, however i don't know how thick they are. u might still have clearance issues w/ the magnets of your new speaks:

no offense, but i don't think anyone knows what the mounting depth is: 1.5" for the front is nowhere close to accurate
i have speakers with 2.5" mounting depth in the front, of course the rears don't have a limit to mounting depth, i have almost 3" mounting depth and its OK |
There are speakers that will fit in a 1.5" mounting depth anyways, Illusion Audio made them and sold them under their own name, as well as the same speakers being sold as planet audio and DEI. They have an inverted motor structure which allows them to mount in extremely small spaces
