new type r's

well, last night i blew one of my cheap pioneer subs. i knew it was gonna happen just didnt know long til it did. soo tonight just went to check prices on the alpine type r's, and they just happened to be on sale, so i couldnt resist. just installed them a couple hours ago and they sound great. so much better than the old ones.

im running them at 2ohms on my old school RF Punch 200ix. couple more months and im buying an amp thatll run at 1 ohm stable and then the alpines will really boom. :D

how much is that rockford feedin em? cuz i got 1 12" type r...and am feeding it 500...(not near anough) some people put up to TRIPLE the RMS amount! these things really no hwo to take a beating! GREAT BUY!

I have tried JBL, Rockford, JL, Infinity, IDQ12, and the alpine type R 12 and of all of them I definately like the Alpine the best

Great Buy!

im not sure as to how much the punch is feeding them, but i do have specs from the manual in pdf format. its says 500 watts mono at 4 ohms, but im running it mono at 2 ohms, soo im guessing that its somewhere between 600-700 watts rms. not bad for an amp thats 13 years old. i picked it up off of ebay last summer for about $220. beautiful condition. factory seals are still intact. i think they sold for somewhere around $800-$900 new. now im looking for an old mcintosh amp to run my interiors. but thatll be a pretty penny. the one im looking for ive seen on ebay go for higher than $700, but it is definately worth it. the type r's are worth the money. buy them. {thumbup}

Im about to get the type r sub, and I already have the type r 6.5 components and they are absolutely ridiculous, and by that I mean the best 6.5's I have ever heard. Just thought I would throw that out there for ya

How well do the Type R components fit in the front door locations? I was thinking about getting them, but without knowing exactly how much room there is behind there, I was concerned about them fitting.

there is 3.001" of depth in the doors before hitting and you can fit a speaker with a maximum tweeter protrusion of .791" so coaxials with a large tweeter will also fit nicely.

The type r components were actually easier to install than any other set of speakers I got because they come with an adapter plate, most of the ones I have installed previously I had to make my own. They fit perfectly and the mounting hardware they give you for the tweeter is really good and keeps it looking very clean.

can you roll your windows down all the way? we put rf components in my friend's accord and he cant (i know theyre not the same speaker, or car but..)

SLVROZ_03 Jun 12, 2006 06:56 AM

^^^You'll need a mounting plate/spacer to get it to clear the window.

i have a type r and i LOVE IT mofo HITS!

Zippo41189 Jun 13, 2006 06:34 AM

so does the adaptor plate that comes with it enough for the depth needed or do you still have to modify the mounting plate for it to fit without window bustage?

GTSlancer02 Jul 31, 2006 07:48 PM

i would also like to know how the components fit in the door. does the window function properly with the spacer?

Im not looking forward to building the custom set up but having 4 type r components will just make me want more

i currently have 2 typeR 10's running off a mrd-m1005. im gettin ready to add the 4 components and the mrv-f545. so ill probably be adding another set of components and more tweeters soon. including another mrd-m1005. it may sound like too much, but you guys havent seen some of the setups in my area.

whats the difference btwn type R's and type E's? i got a pair of type E's laying around my house and they seem to lay the same amount of power as the type R's.

ThunderOZ Jul 31, 2006 08:51 PM

wow i think i might go pick up a set...do they run better in a vented or sealed box?
