NEED HELP FAST!!! just bought 2 alpine 12" R's + I NEED AN ALPINE AMP TOO!!!

just bought a pair of some alpine type R's 1242-D (newest ones) and I need to pick an amp to go with it. If at all possible, I REALLY want it to be alpine to have a cleaner system. I'm just looking for a quality one with enough juice to really power these 12's and not spend an ass load. ADVICE!!!

no need to separate it. u just bridges to sub together get 1 ohms load to mono amp.

& as for speaker u want get an amp that will power all 4 doors speaker or 2 door speaker?

if 4 door, u need 4 channel amp
if 2 door, u need 2 channel amp
or u can do 5 channel amp to power all 4 door speaker & sub....this is not a best bet cuz it wont have enought rms to power your 2 type R sub.

your better off having a mono amp & a 4/2 channel amp {thumbup}

Zippo41189 Jul 27, 2006 09:48 PM

so I'm looking for a mono sub with high watt output?

Evocore Jul 27, 2006 09:51 PM

yup, just the one I list in post #2. those are all mono amp.

bene Jul 27, 2006 11:19 PM

you can do like i started out and got a 4 channel amp, 2 channels for audio boost and 2 for bridged sub output... it works good and i was very pleased with it

mono or class D amps are meant for subs only you cant hook speakers up to it so your bass will most likely drown out your stock music level

ok, I just bought an Alpine MRD-M1005 for $275. good amp and good deal? I hope!

yea it's a good amp {thumbup}

there no way u cant bridged your sub to 2 ohms. since yr sub is dual 4 ohms correct? you gonna have to do 4 ohms, the amp is not 1 ohms stable.

amp is
1000rms @ 2 ohms
700rms @ 4 ohms

here wiring configure

you will have good bass, just now invest on a amp for your speakers, youll see why when u get it all installed

Zippo41189 Jul 28, 2006 08:20 PM

yea its duel 4 ohm voice coils. so theres no way I could splice it to go 2 ohm or something? and if I got 4 ohm, I'll have 700rms as opposed to 2 ohm at 1000rms, so what will the 4 ohm bring besides the decrease in rms? would I be able to run the amp to speakers too b/c of the 4ohm setup. basically, I have no idea of the difference between 4 and 2 ohm besides the rms output. I'm a nub.

bene Jul 28, 2006 08:47 PM

ohm is resistance, less resistance the better :) everybody knows that though
yes you wont get the most out of your amp, i dont know if you can rerun the coil wires, i wouldnt recommend it but you can ask billace how
nothing else comes from the 4ohm though, thats all there is to it

you cant hook this up to your speakers because its too powerful and meant for subs only and will blow the woooooooo outta your speakers

Zippo41189 Jul 28, 2006 08:50 PM

so by me running at 4 ohm, my subs will be safer from blowing b/c of the less resistance? sweet! will it sound any different that at 2 ohm, or just not a loud? like will it be cleaner i mean or more distributed?

bene Jul 28, 2006 09:03 PM

well you almost got it, higher the ohms the more resistance, so yes you will be safer because of more resistance, but trust me you wouldnt blow them unless you had over 2000 watts going to them

and yeah it wont be as loud but you will still love it dont worry

the quality and how clean and smooth it sounds all has to do with the amp not the subs but yeah you got a pretty good amp so itl be clean

youll love it :)

Zippo41189 Jul 29, 2006 09:36 PM

sweet. can anyone tell me hwta all wires I'll need? I still have the stock HU but I want to get an alpine HU to match soon.
