Idle Air Control issues

Hi all, ive been having issues with my idle air control (iac) I have an 03 oz with cai, and piggyback chip. I ran the code reader thru it and it came up with "engine rpms higher than expected, also got a low voltage to crank sensor. The idle pulses about 500-800 rpms at a stand still. Ive bought a new iac sensor and replaced the entire throttle body with a new one. Other issues (related? Not sure) car bogs down at lower rpms until I really step on it.

When you say new TB do you mean brand new or used (new to you)? And the iac is the black circular motor below your intake tube this is what you replaced correct? Usually the issues you are having is caused by a bad or dirty throttle body so if you got a used one make sure you cleaned everything on it really well. If you bought brand new then I would start with cleaning your maf and run some injector cleaner through.

Its a used TB less than 75k on it, cleaned it up really well. Yes that is the iac that I got. Is there any special way to clean the maf?

Just use MAF cleaner. Not carb cleaner, MAF cleaner. Take off the air box and inspect it, if everything looks good spray it down while it's cool. NO TOUCHING!

Edit: a little seafoam through the gas tank and the vacuum to the manifold by way of the brake booster line wouldn't hurt also.

As far as the iac goes you can use the maf cleaner on it. I would just spray some on a cloth and wipe the sealing surface of the iac and if you haven't already clean out the channel really well that the iac uses

What exactly is the piggyback chip? If it's a little device you wire in, and cost less than $50...that's what's causing your idle surge.

Good point. I totally overlooked that. Even if he had the rrm piggy a mistake in wiring will cause a bunch of silliness.

Its a Gforce chip. I did get the bright idea to unplug it and I cleaned the maf and ran seafoam thru it ran alot better, Then the intake valve guides in cylinder 1 decided they wanted to shatter. So tomorrow I get to go pick up a newer engine I found for 300 bucks, maybe that will solve the idle issue lol.

Pure garbage, and if you don't remove it, your issues will never go away.

Intake valve guides shattered? What did you do to cause that?

Also, this eBay & knock off route you're going. Don't do that. It's not a good look. Save the money, get some quality parts or don't and save your money for a better car.

My guess would be constant redlining, burnouts, and general abuse.

Ya that chip went in the trash where it belongs. As for the guides. That would be due to a timing belt gone bad before I bought the car. bent some valves. I replaced them but at the time the guides looked good. But yes I've learned my lesson on ebay crap
