What's the cheapest exhaust upgrade for an 03 Lancer LS?

I'm pretty much stuck with an automatic lancer which is pretty depressing for me. Is there any way I can upgrade my stock for a better sounding exhaust? I know Magnaflow exhaust setups are specifically built for better performance and sound but is there really anything I could for mine with out looking like a clown and it costing too much? Help will be appreciated.

cheap exhaust?

automatic lancers are not as bad as you think they are lol, you can't "race" in them but they still have got some power. anyways some cheap ehxaust are the srs ehaust on ebay or their actual website for more. beware they are kind of noisy -_- but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for replying. I can agree stock lancers have a lot of power but I am still looking for that noise just hopefully it won't be too "farty" or loud if you know what I mean. So do you have any experience with SRS exhausts? I'm looking at them and I can't believe how nice they look.

Would you recommend a Catback like this? how hard would this be to get installed? http://goo.gl/Bg5bmF

A local muffler shop should be able to install a universal Magnaflow muffler for under $200. Gains from an exhaust on your car will be minimal but you should be able to get a nice sound out of it.

Here's a local shop. Awesome I think I'm going to get something done in the next 2 weeks, I'll definitely post pictures. Excited!

If you dont want the police on your *** i recommend getting a magnaflow muffler and get it installed or do it yourself they're really easy to install. I have a 3'' one on my turbo lancer with a straight exhaust and it sounds really nice. You wont have that lound sound for the police to stop you but it's a nice deep tone!

Hopefully it won't be too loud but I still want that nice sound, is getting a magnaflow muffler installed the same as an exhaust?

I don't have the tools or a garage where I can do it myself so i'll just have to go somewhere to get it done for me.

i'd say get a decent catback exhaust, do it right the first time. no point in getting a fart can on stock exhaust to then later replace. I made that mistake and i regret it. it was just wasted money. silencers also help with keeping the noise down so the popos arent chasing ya.

How do I avoid getting a fart can tho? Should I just avoid getting an exhaust at all and just get a new muffler?

I mean, what exactly makes it loud?

I say just leave it stock then turbo and everything else at once . I used to be full bolt on with the magnaflow catback and sounded way to loud and the car was still very slow . Once i went turbo the car got very quite and picked up a huge amount of power ! Also once i went turbo i got rid of the magnaflow catback and went with a custom 3 inch magnaflow exhaust .

Yeah I think I'm going to do that. I don't want to do anything unnecessary and ruin the car. BTW how do I go about going turbo?

And, is this you?
