Well, here's my handiwork. I'm still figuring out a way to isolate it from the engine compartment air, but that shouldn't be long. I had to mount the filter directly to the plate due to the lack of room in there. There is a tad better throttle responsiveness and strangely enough I used to get slight rough shift when the a/t would upshift from 2nd to 3rd, but now that's completely gone. No CEL after the install, just bolted right up. Total cost for everything so far about $110, the only thing I didn't like about the plate is the lip you mount the filter to could be about a eighth to a half inch longer, when you try and get a good seal with the hose clamp the filter likes to slide off of it so you gotta have it in just the right spot.

so, what parts did you use. looks like you used the mounting plate and filter like the one I posted on e-bay at the beginning of this thread. is that right? then where did the rest come from? the whole set up looks a lot like the injen intake they offer for sale.
Believe it or not I used intake tube from autozone, the second piece is a 22 degree elbow, and the first piece is a 90 degree elbow, 3 3 in. to 3 in./2 1/2 coupler reducer's(they have a removable insert to bring the ID down to 2 1/2), the plate and the filter is an AFE pro dry Takeda filter. The only major bit of change I had to make was with the first coupler that connects the second tube to the throttle body, the OD of the TB is about 2 3/4 so I had to carve out a bit of the inside of the coupler insert to get it to fit over the outside of the TB. Also you'd need a vacuum line installation kit, but that you can order from the autozone website for like $11. It has a few grommets, vac line fittings and 2 drill bits that have a screw on collar for drilling the grommet holes. The tubes are plastic but I'm not worried about that, there was a company called Iceman that used to make intakes that used plastic for their intakes.

So far I haven't needed to. Mine is REALLY light and I've already hit a few big bumps while driving and it hasn't budged at all. I am going to be replacing all the hose clamps with collar clamps though, the screws in the hose clamps keep backing out and coming loose. The collar clamps have lock nuts to keep that from happening.
Oh, and I also figured out how to keep the filter from wanting to slip off the plate when you tighten the hose clamp, I put a strip of duct tape around the entire lip of the plate(width of the lip). Now when I can really get a good seal on the filter and not worry about it slipping off.
