anyone using 2inch exhaust piping
im more interested on the sound of it...if any..i dont want it to be like a honda's but i might be staying N/A and after all the people that i have talked to, 2 inch semms to be the best witouth losing a lot of low end, and having a bigger downpipe in a sort of > thing...to have more back pressure
I have some but the piping at the end is quite kinked up to line up the type of muffler I have in the bodykit hole. I love the sound of it!!!!! Compared to the straight through canister style I had replaced the stock muffler with the car got much deeper. It only really growls really loud above 3500 rpm.
Driving in parking garages though the thing sounds loud as hell!!!!!
I can't tell you much about performance wise since I don't think it hurt anything down low, I only wonder if I went big enough to help out the top end. I am satisfied with what I did though so I hope this doesn't sound negative.

no not at all..cus i know that most people(like me) went the bigger route 2.25-2.5...i wonder if it would create the same back pressure if i went with a 2.5 dp
hmm... well if you want, why dont you just get the header and downpipe combo, keep the stock exhaust pipping, and just weld on a muffler onto your stock pipe? i know a guy that did that. he's happy, and he mentioned that he didnt lose any backpressure. i dunno, just an idea.

i have the greddy exhaust now i love it!...but im just looking to see if thr 2.5 to 2inch combo will yeild more gains...but i guess i would have to actually dyno it to find out
really i would worry more about teh lancers top end, compared to other cars in our class, our low end isnt too bad. our top end, however, is pitiful, and would need more help and would convert to better times at the track, when gunning it you stay in the upper rpms anyways for 5 gears instead of teh low rpms in jsut first.
Yeah, I agree with Mike. Also, not many people have mentioned loss in the bottom unless they took the second cat out and put a test pipe in. I talked to Gab at rrm and decided just to play it safe at 2.25.

i will be running 2" exhaust but only from the cat back. right now i have an RRM header, test pipe, and straight through muffler and i hit 2.2 60' times every now and then, my top end does kinda suck though. i will be running a 2.25" downpipe, then 2" after the test pipe and see how that helps. i doubt it will hurt low end any. but if you could, get a muffler with a removable silencer and keep it in as it will help with scavenging.

I just ended up throwing the Magnaflow cat-back on my car (I think 2.25 piping) and didn't get any loss at all. Keeping the stock cat and exhaust manifold makes sure I got plenty of back pressure.
