Service Engine Soon light came on today...
for the first time. I just hit 34,000 miles this weekend. So, I went to AutoZone this afternoon and had em check it for free. I don't have the exact code with me (it's in the car) but it was P01 something which is something to do with the fuel temp. So, I have to fight with the dealer tomorrow, on my day off, and make them see me. I don't care how busy they are because my warranty is up in like 2 weeks!! Anyways, just seeing if anyone else had this happen to them.
Well I brought it in and they had to order a part. My appointment was yesterday and my warranty was up yesterday. I go pick up the car and I have no paperwork to sign or anything. I called today and told the guy it seemed very sketchy and I wanted to make sure it would be covered under the warranty like he said it would. He told me he couldn't print out any paperwork because he left the repair order open until the part comes in and gets fixed then he closes it out, along with the warranty. I still think it seems not right but I am keeping track of it all in case of a brawl at the end.

Well I know that they reset the ECU to have the light go off but they ordered something and I have to bring it back. Weird how they didn't tell me what was ordered though. Can't wait to trade this in for a sexy Legacy.
I had this same code pop up. Does anyone have information on it? I know its the fuel temperature sensor but what is the best fix for it? Part number? instructions on replacement?
Can it simply be deactivated with evo scan or the like?

Techinically you COULD deactivate that code using ecuflash but I suggest finding the cause of the issue rather than I higher tech form of "putting some tape over the light" lol
A quick search came up with this

Basically sounds like the senor has just gone bad

alright, where is it located? Any idea on a part number? or a how to replace? I mean I use the search feature which is how I got on this old thread but I couldn't find any info.
If I were to *put tape over the light* so to speak what would the affect on my car be?

Here you go its right on top of the Fuel tank in the middle between the pump and the level sensor. I didnt have much luck finding the sensor for sale. Might be dealer only part.
As far as leaving well enough alone? Might not have any issues or it might cause a bigger issue down the road with your fuel system. IIRC Most fuel temp sensors are just another form of trim for the computer to analyze and add or remove fuel depending on the temperature reading it gets.
