RRM Short Ram Intake discussion thread
If you used 10 gallons of gas after driving 360 miles, THEN I'll believe you.
the mpg on the info screen, it resets after 4 hours if the car isnt in use.. it doesnt mean ur overall efficiency is 36 mpg.
check ur mpg after every time u drive, then average it out when u fill up again.
it should average back out to 29-31.

Well thanks for the info guys. I know what u all are talking about. Just thought 36mpg sounded good...at least i have never seen anyone post those numbers so I thought it was a first. at least it was for me now that i constantly look at it...But Sorry....... did not mean any harm...Just wanted to say something good about RRM...Thanks anyways. Sorry.....
My CEL is back on! I installed my SRI a few months ago and had some issues with the light, but it went off for a while once I used a silicone gasket material to seal the MAF. Now it popped back on a couple of weeks ago and I can't get it to go away! Any advice?
service engine light
i just installed the intake for my 2008 lancer yesterday and the service engine light came on and i checked to make sure everything is on correctly and it is so is there any way to get rid of the light???
Not sure why you're getting the CEL, but you need to figure it out. Don't just drive around with it.

Just some ideas about why it might give a CEL.
Ive been switching between my RRM intake and stock intake for awhile now. Long story short, my dealership goes into conniptions if they see aftermarket parts.. and its easier just to take 10 minutes to switch, then have to sit there while they lecture me. So now I just switch for the day of service, then switch back to the SRI the next day. Ive switched back and forth a total of about 6 times.
Anyway... switching between the two Ive noticed some things that may cuase a CEL to accur.
The first thing is the O-ring around the MAF. It is prone to stretching and wont seal correctly unless you carefully, and evenlly, seat the MAF. I just switched again to my stock set-up yesturday and had a real hard time getting the O-ring to seat correctly, I had to resort to using a flathead screwdriver to hold one side in while I seated the other side. I think I'm going to go to a hardware store and pick up a new one, and would suggest the same if people are switching frequentlly.
Second thing I noticed is the paint (or powder coat?) on the RRM SRI tends to come off very easilly and sticks to the O-ring. This might cuase the o-ring not to seal correclty and throw up a CEL. Make sure you inspect the O-ring, and clean it if nessesary, before installing the MAF.
All that said, Ive been running the RRM SRI for about 4 months and have not recieved any CEL or had any problems. The SRI is solidly built, (I'm a machinist, so I know :P) and I cant think of anything, design-wise, that would cause a CEL. The most problematic thing about the whole set-up, in my opinion, is the O-ring on the MAF.
