The only think that worries me about this, is that the car didn't come with 50w, it came with 30w, so the gaps and stuff should be made for 30w clearances. I obviously know less than most on this stuff, but...I just wanted to make my concerns known.

a local shop recently put 5W-20 in instead of the recommended 5W-30. Anyone have any thought on whether or not I should go back and have them put in the correct weight?

My biggest concern is that if something happens to the car and I need to take it in for warranty repair will the dealer attempt to screw me for not putting in the recommended oil?

btw, I do know how to change my own oil/filter, just cant do it right now, steep driveway, new house has a very small garage and newborn=cant do anything with the car.

In the future buy your oil from napa or walmart and take it to the shop. That way you'll know what you're getting and you'll save a couple bucks

That's what I've always done. I purchase Valvoline Synpower for $29.00 and the Bosch Oil Filter for $8. then have it installed at WalMart for $15.

Out the door price is $55-60 tops. Typical oil changes using similar synthetic oils can cost around $70-80 from most shops that I've spoken with. Ick.
