my lifters tick loudly and sound like a rod knock i live in colorado and right now it is 20 degrees. let it warm for a couple of minutes before you drive. mine goes away when it warms up

thing is that i had already been driving the car for 40+ miles...so the engine wasnt cold

that has happened to me once before. i live in fl. and don't have to deal with cold weather but the cause of my problem was that i was low on oil, and that seems to be your problem do to the bad oil cap.

Check your oil!!

hearing a knocking sound like that is really bad, could even mean ur engine is about to blow, so next time, just be careful, dont' want ne blown engines cuz of low oil

ditto. check your oil cap. same thing happened to my buddy's civic. he had a crack in his oil cap, and was losing oil. he caught it on time and replaced it.

have you changed your PCV valve? i believe it's every 15k miles, i think. i usually just check it every couple of oil changes. if pressure doesn't pop through that valve, it'll come out your oil cap.

to check if it's bad, take it out and either suck on it or blow through it. one way air won't pass, but will the other way. it's a one-way check valve.

umm wheres the pcv valve?....sorry not good when it come to this

is it easy to replace?

it's this piece. its a little to the right of the oil cap. it attaches to a snorkel that comes out of the valve cover on one end and a hose that goes to the intake manifold on the other end. when twisting it off, people get a little scared cuz the snorkel will bend a little. i don't think anyone has broken it yet so i think it's safe. so far i'm on my second pcv valve. stock color is bronze or copper or something like that.

if you blow through the threaded side, it should blow through. if you blow on the hose side, the valve should close and air won't go through. if the valve is "sticky" going from closed to open, it should be replaced.
