Why is my header blue/purple?

I have the rrm header, ceramic coated. Been in my car for about 5 months. Why is it purple? is it the oils from my friends hands from installing it? Can it be removed? when does my header get dull like all the headers i see around here.

I think youre right about the oils from hands.
I was told the same thing, when I asked that.
Mine turned gold first, and it looked cool actually.. then they turned blue/purple in about a month and a half, and by 6 months, they were dark.

I think i might just paint mine with high temp black like my up-down pipes from rrm.

Bump for more response.

hey if i paint mine how long i have to wait to put it back in, cause i have the same problem and i wanted to paint ??

Yep, it's the oils. People said to spray the pipes with WD-40 if you want a golden-tint to it soon after install. But blue/purple is (I guess) the next shade after gold...?

Is there a way to remove the stains???? soap and water?

Wazvette Sep 28, 2007 11:28 PM

I honestly dont think it looks bad in general...I have it on mine and I think it looks kinda cool actually.

I have never been able to remove the oil from either of my headers. It burns into the metal. Your pretty much stuck with it.

but than,

I too dont think it looks bad.

lancerman360 Sep 29, 2007 07:46 AM

SLVROZ_03 Sep 29, 2007 08:47 AM
