Where's the oil sending unit?

Same deal, hooking up a gauge for the oil pressure...bit slow with the import transition (coming from an 80 Chevy Malibu, 400HP stroker), so the frontwheel drive/mitsubishi placements are making me feel dyslexic.

Thanks for the help!

bottom back of the block

Pretty easy to find I take it? Anyone have any issues installing an oil pressure gauge?

lancer2show Mar 31, 2008 11:45 AM

i used an adapter plate. makes things easier.

jwick76 Mar 31, 2008 11:55 AM

Who sells the adapter plates?

SLVROZ_03 Mar 31, 2008 12:38 PM

Ebay, or just get an oil adaptor outlet and use liquid tape on the fitting.

I'm surprised you haven't been flamed yet for not looking in the DIY thread...lucky today I guess...

Greddy makes an adapter sandwich.

42DraftDesigns make 8mm-to-1/8NPT adapters if you wish to skip the sandwich and use the two ports off of the block (right above the oil filter).

The 8mm screws are a b**** to remove sometimes, so you might want to go with the sandwich

Thanks for the heads up;)

I found:

and

Yea, but anything involving oil pressure isn't something to cheap out on. I'd avoid the ebay crap.

You know, I read through all of the forums in the ES,LS, OZ before I post in them. Why would I check out the EVO pages? Different car. I assumed different information. THere's nothing in the 2002-2007 forums for this info...maybe if the information is able to be used for different models, it would be stickied in each of the main car forums to save us "newbs" from getting flamed for logic? Heh, just like I got shot down for finding a bunch of closed threads on brakes yesterday...tried to start a new one -- you'd think I killed a baby.

Hate bringing up old thread but how is the best way to remove the stock oil pressure sender unit? I wanna put a t peice on that so I can put my autometer sender and still have the stock sender unit

jakermeister Jul 18, 2015 06:33 PM

I'm using a sandwich (adapter) between the oil filter and pan. The block uses a BTSP fitting so be sure to use one if you use the block.

347-dis Jul 18, 2015 07:25 PM

Yea looked at that but prefer using the stock location and using a t peice

CrAnSwIcK Jul 19, 2015 12:49 PM

google oil pressure T fitting...there's tons around...you're looking for one with a 1/8 BSPT male, 1/8 BSPT female, and at least one 1/8 female NPT
