P0441 EVAP Emission Control System Purge Flow Fault

My 08 lancer es has been throwing this code:

P0441 EVAP Emission Control System Purge Flow Fault

I can clear it, but as soon as the tank is half full, and the temperature outsde is below 60F, it will throw this code again. I don't know whether to replace the evap canister or the purge solenoid (read this code on another car forum).

There's no noticeable effect on the car's performance. Please help if you have experience fixing this code. Thanks.

Hey, I'm having the same problem to with my 02 rally. I just bought my rally, and the code popped up as soon as it hit half a tank. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it though, I'm still on my first tank of gas since purchase. Does anyone know where in the evap system I should start searching?

I have the same code (P0441) that just starterd a couple of days ago. Can anyone give me a idea on where I can locate the Evap Emision Control System Purge Flow on my truck.

Thanks In Advance, OOBassn

That is not a fault that happens on a current gen lancer very often. I highly recommend taking it to the dealership because this may hint of further trouble down the road.

no issues, its the EVAP system. To make it simple it works like this. The fumes in your gas tank are taken, put through a charcoal container, filtered to fresh air then pumped back into your engine via a Purge Valve. So in other words its not a big deal, just change your purge valve. Its a plastic thing mounted on the fire wall or somewhere in the engine bay, that has a plastic tube going into your intake manifold.

Sorry, I forgot to update this thread. I already fixed this myself almost a year ago. I took a chance and purchased a charcoal canister. I removed the old one, reused the bracket and installed the new one myself. I only paid $140 for the canister. I saved $300 by not bringing it to the dealer. No more P0441 code.

I figured it out because I used to overfill my tank, and I read that the charcoal canister gets clogged when the excess gasoline gets into it.

Well there is a reason you don't overfill your tank...

Update

Ive taken mine to the shop it does the same thing. They tell me my Evan system is full of water and needs replaced. Every hose and piece. But the evap system does not mess up the car's driving performance really except for possibly decreasing your mpg. Hope this helps.
