Injen CAI for Auto Tranny's

Just to let everyone who drives an auto know. www.nopionline.com has started carrying the Injen Cold Air Intake for the US Lancer with the Automatic Transmission. Price is $213.83

doesn't look like CA though. Not long enough

HobieKopek Jul 9, 2002 11:00 PM

The pics of the CAI's aren't what the Lancer specific model looks like anyway. :dunno: I doubt those are the same as what you'd get in the box, but most likely similar. Looks like a long ram intake :p Not quite a CAI.

you, guys, trust Nopi . . . I don't since they can rarely get any info right. Also, they tend to say they have stuff but in reality don't. They are much better getting stuff in person.

You are all monkeys...did nobody think to actually look at Injen's website?

http://www.injen.com/webpages/intake.../is/is1830.jpg

That's what the automatic intake look's like. It's a short ram for autos. From the looks of it, you're probably better off getting the RRM, RMR, or Buschur intakes for sheer cost alone. Albeit I'm curious to know what the included heat shield looks like.

That short-ram looks very nice.

Now I need some custom bent piping when I recieve my RRM intake to compensate for the hp loss with the black riveted tubing killing the horsies.

 losing horsies???

Babblingsponge Jul 10, 2002 07:58 AM

Do you people think i should go ahead and get the injen cai for the auto or wait for AEM to come out with their short ram? Im also considering getting buschur racing's intake. WHICH ONE?!?!

b_tapper Jul 10, 2002 07:59 AM

that is one ugly engine bay...does mitsu just randomly put wires and tubes everywhere? :p

I don't remember any lancer either manual or slushbox looking like that.

Babblingsponge Jul 10, 2002 08:20 AM

yeah, my engine bay looks nothing like that....mine is all neat and tidy :D . and back to my previous question.

That's such a tough decision, AEM, Buschur or Injen...I would pick Injen, for now...but I change my mind soo much though. :dunno:

HobieKopek Jul 10, 2002 09:34 AM

Buschur. I just love those guys and the results are dyno tested and proven. I'm a bit biased, but to balance things out I do have an Injen CAI. If I went short ram I'd go Buschur or RRM though without a doubt.

GOT A QUESTION

WOULD U THINK THEY HAVE THE FULL CAI INSTEAD OF THE SHORT RAM, I CAN`T STAND THEM LITTLE ASS SHORT RAMS, I LIKE THE TYPE THAT GOES BELOW THE ENGINE, AND IS IN FRONT OF THE FRONT BUMPER AIR VENT. CAN U HELP ME OUT

Easy with the caps their guy. Regardless, CAI vs. Short Ram is all about space and fitment. Auto trannies are bigger than manuals so, especially in FWD cars, there's less room in the engine bay. Can't run a pipe if there isn't room. People have done a forced placement of the Injen CAI in automatic Lancers at the sake of bending the pipe or having the pipe up against the radiator. I really can't recommend doing that to a compenent for the sheer fact that you're damaging the product's integrity...
