Optimal pipe size?

hey can any of you guys tell me what the optimal size of piping for exhaust is? 2? 2.25? 2.5?

also we have two catalytic converters right???

if so would it be ok to remove one of them?

thanks

i've got 2.25 and taken out one of my cat's... a lot of people here have said 2.5 is just right... iono a lot of the guys at the shops i've gone to said 2.25 is good and helps you retain a little low end

it depends on if you are going turbo, or staying NA. If you are going turbo the 2.5 is a good idea but leave your cat in because you will loose low end torque with no back pressure.

If you are staying NA, then 2.25 is best. Going to straight pipes will help your high end but kill low end torque just so you dont do it and wonder why it feels slower starting out.

I had no noticable low-end loss w/ SRI, stock header, stock downpipe, stock cat and 2.5" cat-back.

I did a little. Go 2.25 inches, that is what I have.

i would go 2.25" and leave the stock cat on no matter what you do, unless you like it really loud , and kind of ricey.

catalytic converter.....its the 'thing' that reduces emissions so u pass Emissions tests etc....we got them in IL it sucks! boo testing!!

i think im gonna be diff, and just keep my axle-back and straight pipe my resonator and get a hi-flo cat, than if i dont go turbo(hopefully this summer i can be turbo) than ill get a RPW header/downpipe combo thingie....while keeping the stock piping for my exhaust. just to see how it is...and if i don't like it...change it out for 2.5"

drive 02 that sounds like a really awesome idea. I hope to also be turbo or SDS by the mid summer or end of the summer.

This has been covered before as well.

N/A - 2.25 inch mandrel or 2.5 inch press (2.25 press would get you by as well)
Turbo - 2.5 inch mandrel
