Question Rubbing? Maybe not....

Ok well this only applies in reverse. I have stock tires and springs but when i go in reverse (esp up an incline) i hear a rubbing sound. Now i dont know why they would be rubbing because there is plenty of clearance. On another note i installed my headers and had CEL come on after about 150 (but ill search for this). Just cant figure why it would be rubbing or it may not even be rubbing. Well anyway thanks for the help!

headers always cause the CEL to go off.
stock tires shouldn't cause rubbing.

have you checked your breaks?
maybe something in there could cause the sound?

warped rotor would make more sense than a stock wheel rubbing.

RobertK is probably right. Many times the brakes rub in reverse but not in forward. My Trans Am did that when my rotors wore too thin (and the pads too). It probably only makes a noise in reverse because of the alignment as well as the wear pattern. The back of the pads wear faster than the fronts because the backs have the leading edge. So when you're in reverse, the leading edge is backwards.

If it sounds like tires rubbing against a hard surface then it's just the normal whine of the transmission. I hear the so caled "Rubbing" sound in my car also but i drive a manual so it may only be with the manual trans.
