I Need A New Roof

I really hate snow, So i'm at work today and my car is in the parking lot. Well next door to my work is a school and it's a three story bulding see were i'm going with this. about 100 pounds worth of snow fell from the roof off the school right ontop of my car. gotta be kinding me well i know the insurance aint going to cover it because it's a god given act even though i have full coverage. So i go to the local autobody shop the guy is like if you don't need a whole new roof anywhere around $750 - $1000. yup my life sucks!!!

Call the insurance. Most of them cover "act of god" I believe.

Or threaten to sue the school for the dangerous condition. Remind them it could have fallen on YOU. Hint that if they fix your car, you won't sue. If they say no, try small claims court (usually covers anything under $5k).

i think acts of god should be covered w/ the exception of flood damage. acts of terror is usually not( a clasue added to many insurance claims after 9-11)

^^^^^ Good point. The insurance of the building or parking lot should actually cover it.

See the thing is my works parking lot isn't coverd by this snow falling it happened last year to someone and he tried but the company wouldn't cover it. My works parking lot can't be coverd by what the school did to my car it would be different if the snow fell off my works roof rather than the school's roofer. I just want to get my car fixed and move along plus with my insurance comp i have a $1000 deductable so if it's cost a grand guess what i'm paying for it.

Yes, call your insurance company. I don't see why this wouldn't be covered. Besides, snow falling from a roof isn't an act of God. Snowing is, and it doesn't snow 100 lb in a concentrated area.

Many body shops willwork with your insurance to lower your deductible. I know just about every auto glass shop will split the deductible around here because they want to work with insurance companies. (makes me think they are padding their invoices.) Also you have a potentially huge lawsuit ( I work for a Law Firm) on your hands with that school. Do you have any witnesses? I suggest calling local firm and if they are worth anything they will get the school to settle for at least what the roof is worth.

Well here in Rhode Island stuff doesn't work that way. For the smallest state we are cut throat people. No one does anything for other people. I called my insurance company today and they called my works Insurance and i quote what the ladie told me what my work said. We are not liable for any damage from the school next door because it's a state owned school. Well i could file a complent with the state but once again i live in RI and i won't see **** trust me. Ok my insurance will fix it but once again i have to pay the first $1000 so i'm just gonna pay it and get my baby back with a normal roof.

that does suck. Go to a junkyard and try to get one. This could actually be an interesting project. Find a black roof, find one and paint it bacl. Or get it wrapped in CF...ooh that would be badass. That's what I would do. Think of it as an excuse to mod.

and to Post #2 of this thread...how the heck do you get your insurance to pay for aftermarket mods? Or just get money to pay for your own aka buy aftermarket parts.

Say your hood gets damaged. The insurance company will usually just cut you a check for the amount to get a new hood & paint.

So you go to the dealership and get an estimate. Give it to the insurance company, they cut you a check.

You call up VIS, order a hood, and pay/keep the difference.

That sux man. Why not try an get an aluminum roof like on the Evo. I thought they fit the 02-03 body style. Could be wrong, but look into it.
