i have un question about the fuel filter
exactly where is it located on a lancer 02 es???? is it in the tank??? becuz i want to maybe change it becuz my cars being a turtle....i dont know whats up but it feels sluggish...i have a short ram intake by K&N in it....a test pipe, a muffler....thats about it....i changed the spark plugs like 2 days ago to bosch platinum 4s??? it has about 107,000m on it what could be wrong?
Get rid of the bosch plugs, they're crap and everyone who has them complains about poor performance. The test pipe is also a problem, you've lost quite a bit of backpressure by doing that and with just an intake you simply don't have enough air coming into the engine to make up for it.

this was talked about a long while ago. the filter is built into the the unit the fuel pump is in. that whole big white plastic thing. it's about $100 and should be replaced every 100k miles. go and find the thread.

This is the fuel filter for anyone that wants to see it. I don't see why it would ever need replacement. Its nylon. This one came off the GSX pump I am using. I had swapped it out for the newer parts off the standard pump.
My understanding of car has always been there is 1 fuel filter and 1 strainer on every car. Now keep in mind i have not changed or even looked for the fuel filter on the lancer.
The strainer is in the gas tank attached to the pump itself. The strainer is there to make sure the the big particles (rocks and debris) dont get into the fuel line and clog it up. The fuel filter is usually attached outside the fuel tank between the tank the the injectors. The fuel filter is to filter the small dust particles in the gas so they dont get into the injectors.
