I'm not positive of the speed rating on those tires but i doubt theyre rated to anything over 80. On almost any tire if you run at a speed higher then the rated speed for a long amount of time you risk a blowout.

ummmm....it shouldnt have blown going 90 mph. Prolly a manufactures defect on the tire, or the tire wasnt balanced properly. I'd check the tire and see if you hit a nail or something jagged cause that is really weird.

Even if you were going 90 and the tires were rated for 80, you'd have to have been going above the rated speed for a pretty good while (longer than a 1/4 mile drag) for just the speed alone to have done all the damage. Case-in-point, I was running 110 for a good 4 or 5 minutes on my way up to Seattle one weekend on stock Yokos and things were smooth as a baby's behind.

There may be your answer right there. Any speed rating on a tire goes out the window when it has been patched or plugged.

it's probably when u got your tire fixed..a little blemish could do a lot when going faster than the speed rating

Ghostrider... stock yokos are higher rating. They are actually 118MPH... at least mine are and their stock. I'd assume mitsu would use the same yokos. Our yokos also have a soft, but small tread. They are a 180... most Race tires, still streetable, are running around 200 for wear. Not jacking your post but just stating my findings. I do believe his 14's are crappy high milage tires though so blowout is possible considering heat/mph. Especially if it was previously damaged and then repaired. My .02

stock tires are rated either S or H...ahd yea thats 112/130mph(cant remember whats the rated symble..it says on the sidewall of your tires !)...
but that is when the tire pressure is right!!!
if ur tire pressure is too low or too high..its dangerious to traveling around 112mph at all...
check your tire pressure!!! its a thing taht i check everytime i wash my car!! which is once a week!!
