Part THANK YOU...Part Fu*k YOU !!!!

Finally after being so depressed with the cam eating my fuel, I've figured out the problem. A BIG thank you goes out to RHYZIN for all his help with the AFC. I couldn't get it to read the air flow sensor??? So after much cursing and DAYS of research the problem was simple...Mitsu dealer forgot to reconnect my MAS after installing the cam...what ****s...total incompatence..... Any how, now the car runs fine and better than before...gains are even more evident than before and I've started properly adjusting the fuel curve to perfect stoich conditions... so to Rhyzin for all the help and to Mitsu for an expensive install that wasn't done properly.
(BTW I'm not selling it anymore, guess thats obvious now.)

sorry to here it, but it kind of rings a bell because i was have some routine maintance done with my lancer at the mitsu dealer and they forgot to plug the same thing back in, anyways i started having problems and after going to the dealer 4 times for this proble they told me they could not figure it out, so after a month they almost set up a recall, and it was in the works for me to get a new car.

My MPG now is 34/gal...that's sweet considering I added HP to the car in the process! I'm still thinning out the Hi throttle too. I run slightly rich when going over 40% throttle after 3.5k.

How are you able to drive your car w/o the MAF being connected? Mine always stumbled before dying outright. Maybe, Mitsu programmed a better limp mode than my past 1.8L . . .

34 MPG as in city or hwy? Once you tune your AFC better, your MPG will improve again.

Heck. My car started at 24 MPG. In the end w/ mods and tuning, I hit constantly between 28-32 MPG in the city.

Sweet, glad to hear that you fixed the problem, got your afc installed and are keeping the cam. When I saw you selling it, my desire to get one went right out the door. Enjoy and keep us updated.

i also thought it would be impossible to run the car.. since there is no way the car can calculate the amount of air coming in. if anything at idle your car sound have sounded like angry bull grunting, and would "buck" like crazy...... no ???
i really don't understand how you even drove it ??
btw what was your final cost at the camshaft and gear purhase and install?

The key wo8uld be getting it started. Once started, it would probably run rich as all hell.

Gald to hear everything is workign out for you. You are my new inspiration. (as far as getting my car together, that is)

Wow. I'm only getting 27-28 MPG right now (I,H,E). Looks like a cam is now on my short list of mods to get. Thanks for the info man.
