you have two options on exhaust. 1. you buy a universal muffler and mostly when you shop for that your shopping for the looks. you dont know how the sound quality of it will be because you have never heard that one before but most of them sound alot like the after effects of drinking the water in mexico. you go down to your local and have "big earl" who never even finished highschool but he knows how to do a mean setup for an el camino. you have them do it and they cut you a deal. and your car sounds just like everyother crx and civic out there you pull up to a guy in an evo and he shakes his head. you migh get some power and better flow or you can do this. 2. buy and exhaust thats been tested, rated to have better flow, fitment, and and some torque and whp not to mention SOUND! plus it might save you some cash in the longrun cause cops like to give tickets on cheapass loud exhaust. but hey thats just my opinion i have on of those "big earl jobs" and i cant wait to rip it out with a greddy.

In the 4 years I've been on here, I've yet to see anyone prove that. My car was just fine with a 2.5" Buschur exhaust when it was NA.

It's an opinion game. When we put the Buschur exhaust on my friend's car, I really didn't like the way the car performed (all top end, no torque). Some people get that, some people don't.

Well all he is going for is looks and he wants to save $ so a universal muffler is probably what he needs. Also if he just gets a muffler it will be pretty quiet and most likley sound good.

Depends on what kind of muffler he gets, my brother has just a muffler and an intake and his car is loud, almost as loud as mine with a header, full exhaust and no resonator.

^what car does he drive?

Because back in my ricer days I had an ebay muffler slapped on and it was really quiet. Now with a header, resonator, stock cat, and greddy muffler I am way louder.

He drives a corolla S, not sure what year, I think 2001-2002. It's a pretty big muffler though, it has dual tips.

I had a really small, thin walled ebay muffler and it was suprisingly quiet so I had the stock resonator removed and that made it a little louder.

I am glad my tastes have evolved. lol

hey dude not being an *** but that isnt a muffler. that is what you call a baffle, its a stright shot and you probably wont notice much of a difference if you put it on or left it off, other than looks. if u do put that on there with a cutom cb with no other mufflers ur deff going to sound like a honda and ricey as hell. but if u do like this look when you get ur cb done tell who ever u get to do it to put some type of actual muffler on it. just make sure its a high flow so that it dosent restrict you.

Sounds like your close to my setup. Header, test pipe, no resonator, and a baffle (as per StiSlayer). Whats Backpressure?

Ill admit its loud as f--k but i get the burble upon deceleration and a wicked buzz above 4k.

And it is nowhere near as loud as my 4A-GE was with a real muffler on. That was obscene.

man i don't get some people actually paying $500-700 for a catback because its stainless steel. Its going under your car for one, and two, regular exhaust tubing from a shop is waaaay lighter than stainless. Just get the RRM magnaflow muffler (or anywhere that sells them) and have a shop weld it in. I was quoted $110 to weld a custom catback matched to the muffler (I think 2.5"). The muffler I think was like $275 brand new from RRM. It sounds amazing and isn't loud (I didn't get the catback made, that would make it louder). Or just buy any thick walled muffler for a low tone.
