Want Exhaust

I'm about to buy this exhaust from ebay here
It's only the muffler, so if I take it to a shop how much will it cost to have the piping done?
Will they do the whole cat back or will they keep mostly whats on there now?
How much would ppl normally charge to get the piping done custom and also where can I get this done?

Thanks (sry for the noob question) I've wanted to get a nice looking muffler for a while now, but I don't want it too ricey (it says a deep note sound =/)

INLET:2.5"

OUTLET:4"

I read that 2.25" piping is the way to go, is that inlet going to be a problem? and will the 4" outlet fit nicely into my stock ls bumper?

Looks like a genertic piece of sh*t.
It may give you a "deep sound" for about a a few weeks, but after that the sound absorption material inside the muffler will have burned out giving your car a nice loud ricey sound. Your car will sound like this or worst:

It is cheap because it isn't quality made.
Funny how they tacked on "HKS HI-POWER"
Having an inlet of about 2.25" or 2.5" and a outlet of 4" is rice.

As for the piping: tell the people what you want and ask how much is it going to cost. The choice is yours on whether or not you want to have a aftermarket muffler attached to the stock piping.
I had them make a completely new piping. Cost me about $125 for everything.

The canister is a little to small. It may sound ok but it will look stupid. But watever you like I guess.

If you want a deep not sound you could go with a flowmaster with 2.0 piping. This is what I got. When the car is idiling you can barely hear it, then when you want it louder just gas it! Also i'd just stay with the stock pipes, getting bigger pipes doesn't give you very much.

Wow. On so many levels.

4" is going to be stuffed in there, not "fit nicely".

I won't even touch on my other thoughts...

Here is the GReddy EVO 2 Catback
here
$500 probably isn't too much for the whole system but when you make 7.00 hr it is.

So can anyone point me in the right direction for an exhaust that would look/sound nice. I can afford the piping if its $125 and it would be nice if I didn't have to spend over 200 for it because I'm trying to get new seats too.

Thanks

Ps. I don't want to go all out on this car because
1. Its an auto (boring)
2. I had to respray the whole dash/door panels black after the previous owner screwed me by painting them BLUE/white (it looks better now, but not like stock)
3. I just finished my 1st semister of college and my money is tight, but I still want mod!

Giving your situation... stay away from mods. The money you'll be able to spend won't make the car any faster anyway. Ask anybody around here. the Lancer won't give you what you're looking for unless you spend mad money on it.

If you still want to go the exhaust route, then...

Get a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler(come in many sizes and will run you 30-40$)
Get the custom piping done at your local muffler shop
And enjoy.

Or buy my exhaust setup. Pm me if you want details.

You won't see any huge gain from any type of exhaust on your Lancer. If you want something that won't wake up everyone, miles around at 2 in the morning... The Dynomax Super Turbo is great option. A buddy of mine has it installed on his M42 (low displacement 4 cylinder) and it's not raspy AT ALL.

Your not going to get a good looking muffler that gives you a "deep note" without spending a good amount of money.
Just stop "modding" and save your money. Put it in the bank.

Wow... a muffler isn't meant to look good. A muffler is meant to perform.

A THIN CAN is meant to look.

Set your priorities, then make your purchase.

Or be smart, and do a smart installation. Meaning... buy a god damn tip and slap it on there. You can buy a 12" tip you think it looks good. Who cares if the muffler is ugly? Who's going to see it anyway? Are you and your buddies sliding under everybody's car to see how good their muffler look? The only part you'll see is the tip.

You muffler could be all corroded and wearing a nice tip and everybody would think you had a "cool" exhaust... Why? Cause all you can see is the tip. Or all you should see is the tip.
