to swap or not to swap
to swap or not to swap
so i have an 03 lancer es. the motor has 60k miles on it i have done any mods internally just header, exhaust, and intake. i have been thinking aobut turboing it because im rebuilding the whole car this winter but at 60k miles, i mean its not alot but to dump 4k on a turbo you kinda want something fresh. i've been thinking about rebuilding the lowend but also maybe swaping it out with something new. theres always the talk about a dsm or an new evo motor which is a huge waste of time and money for a lancer es. basically whats been getting me thinking is what other motor(s) could i put in this car we all know anything is possible. i know some guys might get mad at me for this one but is there another company motor that might work? isnt all about doing something new?

If you're serious about a swap, look up RPW website. They have a section where they list most available option for the Lancer.
A2 have a full 4G64 engine swap kit don't they. you could look into that
www.***********.com
also. anything isn't possible in our car, you will find that out pretty quickly

that a2 link was helpful. just seeing lancer stage 2 kits going for the upper $3k and only putting around 220 whp thats when i was really thinking about a swap. i had an 05 sti and when you own that and also buy a lancer and on a friday night take on every car then the next night bring out my lancer and get smoked by some boner in an 94 integera sets ya back. but in all honesty handling-wise my lancer feels much better. im really gonna research on this one. im even open for non mitsubishi motors.
i dont think non mitsu motors will fit. our car isn't a civic, its very difficult to do engine swaps and our choices are very limited, be prepared to spend a lot of time and money on whatever you do.
your best option for decent, safe, reliable power is to just turbo your existing engine.

You don't drive a Honda. You don't drive a Subaru. So stop thinking "I'll swap in a Spoon engine and win at RaceWars!" because that **** ain't happening, bro.

Diavlo over in the RA threads has a UK lancer and has been swapping a US RA engine into his car. he's spent over $20,000 and still isnt done. Before you get into a swap really think about how much its going to cost against your gains. you could probably rebuild some and turbo for as much or less and be happier in the end.
The only swap worth doing is from the 6 series engines. You can dial past 500 wheel on them... But the only problem is with lancers pushing over 300hp is torque steer.
I don't know why I'm the only person that finds torque steer rediculously annoying...

I kinda like the feeling of the car trying to pull to the sides when I'm flooring it. But yeah, if you want to do something really different, build up the engine and turbo it. Really, there are not many lancers that are build very much. Port it all out, strengthen the internals, then go turbo. You will see very nice gains from that and can say its still the 4g94.
not to long ago i talked to one the guys at rrm bout that and they said its not woth the time and money, its alot cheaper to boost cause thats what i did and dont regret it, but if you want a turbo kit mine is now forsale cause iam selling my car with all my mods or parting some out, if you want more info just give me an emailat just_in_83@yahoo.com

has anyone thought about importing a 4g94 DOHC GDI Short Block swap out the GDI Pistons and rods and put a CE lancer GSR DOHC head on it.
before you flame me about being possible or not look at this
4g92-DOHC Mivec head will fit on a 4g93 DOHC block the SOHC 93 head is the same as our SOHC 94 head so im thinking with a few contacts and a few months searching a DOHC 94 is possible a tad expensive i admit but will stun and suprise a few people.
now i know i went on about putting a mivec head on the SOHC 94 block but i was wrong. the 4g9 series all have a SOHC block and a DOHC block, none of the head componants between the two heads fit each other (sohc vs DOHC)
please give me your feedback on the idea (flame me if you have to but not the fact its expensive
)
