Anti traffic camera tag cover

Ok, I've seen these things around. It is a plastic, clear cover that goes over your tag, and when you look at it from an angle up and to the side, it blocks the tag. If you know were to get one, Please let me know. I want one. Thanks.

What do you enjoy running red lights or something? Is it fun to see if you can play dodge the bipeds? I read an interesting statistic somewhere that you would have to pass fifty cars in order to make up 1 minute of time on the road... in other words if you just take your time you'll get to where you are going just as fast and safer.

I guess I'm just a slight pissed, maybe has something to do with the fact that I was once run over by a speeder. Bet he too wonders where he could get one of those nifty camera blockers... too bad he can't drive cause his license was taken away.

Just drive normally and if you have a fixation on driving fast save it for the highway or better yet take it to a track.

Never heard of this "technology" before. Shingen is right though, we dont want anybody getting hurt. In the military we have this thing called ORM which stands for Operational Risk Mgmt. Basically, think before you act.

Okay, back on topic. Do you have any idea who makes these things? I was in the library one time and these computers had them on. If I were to look at them in an angle, I couldnt read what was on the screen, but if I looked at them directly in front, I can read everything on the screen. Wouldn't it be illegal on the road though? Police might have a problem w/ it...

First off, I don't do either. \

Second, reguardless of the fact that these cameras are ILLEGAL AS HELL, they can/do malfunction, or purposely be set to get people who aren't breaking the law.

If I ever do speed, I would rather a cop pull me over and give me a ticket. At least then I KNOW I am guilty.

So don't go preaching at me just becuase you got your butt run over.

I wonder what you were doing in the street in the first place. How does that sound? Judgemental? Good, Don't go judging me and I won't go judging you.

If a cop sees that I am pretty sure you would get a ticket. That would have to be illegal.

Uhh... flame? Indeed. Ask a simple question get a nasty response from a moron... Light cameras are legal in some places. And in many of those places they were put in because of accedents perpratrated by individuals who were either speeding, ignoring the light, preocupied with hair products or fondling themselves...

As to what I was doing when I was hit; actually I was seven, walking from the school bus. Fun times had by all. The car came behind me and side swiped me with the mirror. I was thrown about five feet and was gently stopped by a tree which knocked me out. Yup, one year of rehab is fun stuff. You should try it some time. And sometimes when I walk allot I get a gift from the past in the form of back pain and headaches.

Sadly there wasn't a camera in the area, back 13 years ago cameras were huge and couldn't be mounted on polls. The one whitness that saw it happen, not me cause I was out like a blown candle, was only 12 or 13, also getting off the bus. The guys lawer tried to say that a 12 or 13 year olds testamony wasn't sure proof... the guy almost got off... damn, if there were only a indisputable source of testamony, say a camera... but again duffle bag sized cameras and the weight issue.

Now we live in a time where the good Japanese with their ability to take big things and make them small have conqured the earth with all sorts of miniture devices like small cameras, which can be had at the fraction of size and price. I say put them on every light. Let them fine the morons the like to run them.

Or at least take the same money used to build cameras and put retractable tire popping thingys in the road when the light is red... that way you can ***** and moan when you get your tires popped.

And far more times human error is responsible for bad tickets. Those cameras are fixed, calibrated and timed to the millisecond. Just because you can't comprehend in such a quick mannor doesn't make it wrong. Oh and the yellow means slow down not speed up.

Till then, before you say something is illegal at least bring some proof. Just because you hope something is or isn't doesn't mean it can be, or not be... I hate it when I don't make sense... but you get what I mean...

The tag hiders are illegal in every state (except maybe Texas). So you know, you'll get nailed.

hmm thats pretty cool though lol

speeding is pretty pointless too
unless your goin somewere extreamly far

or unless your goin like twice the speed limit youll save your self about 10 minuts on your avrage 50 - 80 mile trip

my life is worth 10 minuts

but on occasion i like to disregard all that stuff and just let it rip lol

Totally off topic, but what the heck? If we're going to run the math, let's consider my drive to work. It's 70 miles each way, that's 140 miles per day. The speed limit is 65, I do 80. Let's be conservative and say that saves me 10 minutes each way. That's 20 minutes per day or 100 minutes per week. If I work 50 weeks per year, that's 5000 minutes or about 80 hours per year of my life back. That's 10 working days I get back every year for driving 15 mph over the limit. Almost makes me wanna do 100 mph. :-) Sometimes math can be your enemy too.

Yes, I know it's off topic and doesn't address anything brought up here. But the comments earlier in the thread about passing 50 cars or something in traffic just got me thinking.

Angry Red Light Cameras

I have a rael problem with the "Big Brother" direction traffic cameras are taking us. Each day we give up just a little bit more of our freedoms. Soon there won't be any left. Alarmist, yes. But I'm probably one of the oldest people on this board (and I lurk far more than I post), and have seen this erosion over a good number of years.

Pat Bedard of Car & Driver magazine did a great expose of red light cameras in one of his columns about a year or so ago. Are you aware that the company that builds, supplies and installs the cameras gets a cut of the revenue generated by the tickets issued by that camera. If that doesn't smack of collusion, I don't know what does. In Pat's column they checked cameras at intersections in, I believe, an Arizona city, versus those intersections without cameras. Guess what? At the camera intersections the yellow lights were consistently shorter than those at the un-cameraed intersections. Short enough so that normal reaction times didn't always cut it - bingo! Ticket, and Big Brother gets to split some money with the camera company. What happened to being able to face your accuser? You want to use cameras? Fine, have a policeman monitoring the picture and issuing tickets on the spot - not some surprise package in the mail two weeks down the road. This is BS.

Oh well that's my rant. Sorry for the threadjacking.

Adios,

Fusoguy
