Window moleskin felt installation
hey boys, hopefully everyone has cooled off cause I have a question. So I got my windows tinted last weekend and the shop only installed moleskin on the top flap of the weatherstripping because they did not want to take my door panels off. What should I do? Should I leave it or get some more moleskin for the bottom flap?
thanks in advance!

Glue, not AS bad as before but come June/July I anticipate a real sticky situation. Maybe Ill post some pictures when the time comes and if this thread is revived again at that time.
replacing tint is much worse than cleaning glue, no doubt. i am grateful that i dont have to replace my tint but i purchased this product with the impression it would not leave any glue.
oh well at least i dont have to re-tint
Yes read the several post i have discussing the glue left all over my windows. Notice i havent posted since OCT about it because thats when it starts getting cold in san Antonio. well its Feb now and yep its warmer and guess whats on my windows ?

Use goofoff to get the glue off.
How did you guys install the moleskin? my Acura TL has had it on since 04 with not one glue problem.
Its ALL in how you install it. If you make sure the moleskin isn't coming off the edge of the weather strip you won't have this problem. Don't be lazy when you install it and you won't have this problem in the future.

Here's what I learned from installing mine:
Use the pre-cut edge of the moleskin against the outer edge of the window molding as the cut edges will be more uneven and expose more adhesive. Don't place the moleskin all the way out to the edge of the molding, pull it back so that it's enough to protect the tint, but not hanging over the edge (exposing the glue). Make sure the moleskin is well adhered (I pressed my with a heavy flat object) and the edges are pressed down well. Keep some goof-off in your car with a scrap MF towel and clean up any glue streaks that you get. I had some at first, but they went away after about a week of use.

i just didnt roll my windows down i left then up for two days after i installed the moleskin and i dont get any glue residue left on my windows. on the paper it says not to put your windows down for 12 hours. and i did it when it was raining i was afraid it was not going to stick b/c it was cold as well and no problems yet (knock on wood).
thats a big no.
also here comes summer around the corner time for some glue on my windows.
woot woot!

BUT atleast i dont have to retint my windows they are still scratch free
Glue on windows = small price to pay to keep my $150 tint job looking good

I installed the tintprotector moleskin on my GTS. I took my time and though I did a good job. I left my windows up for a day or two but the very first time I rolled down the windows, I was greeted with some very nice scratches in every window
First off. It's impossible to roll down your window and have tint scratches the first time!
It takes a month to get scratches on the tint from the very small sand and debris caught in between your window and the hard plastic weather strip.
Second, Moleskin doesn't cause window tint scratches PERIOD! It prevents them. In over 7 years of having this product on all my cars I have NEVER seen or heard of ANYONE having their tint scratch after they have applied moleskin.
You are full of it Matt.

I'm not one to lie. It happened. I'm not saying it was the moleskin's fault, maybe I did screw up the installation of it. I took several hours cutting and installing the skin and I still got scratches.
I dunno what else I can say
