lets say you put around 10-12k worth of aftermarket parts on the gts. would it be possible to go head to head with a stock evo 9 or x?

Depends what you mean by go head to head. Are you talking about straight line speed? Handling? Track times? Comfort? Looks? Grip?

I'm sure that if you put enough money into any car it can be made faster than a stock Evo.

Pretty much. The only limit to your, or any, car's potential is the depth of your pockets.

Exactly!

When I looked at the new lancers I noticed ALOT of room under the hood for a turbo, or a bigger engine. Seems like the potential is there...

Yep plenty of room for a turbo

Only if you overnight the parts from Japan. Then it will decimate all.

not sure what you mean by head to head. with a turbo from a roll you should easily hang with an X.

from a stand still, you would need a lot of power to catch up to a stock AWD, and once you have that power - you'll be fighting for traction.

on the track - it will take alot of upgrades to compensate for the Super AWC of the X. coilovers, wheels and some good rubber would be a start.

yes, anything is possible, stupid, but possible. Take that 10K, add it to the 20-22K your spending on a GTS and then buy the IX plus performance parts or nearly pay for the Evo X.

You're forgetting to look where it matters...........behind the wheels!

oh yeah, and that lil' ol' shaft that runs to the rear wheels. But it is possible.
