Thumbs down Lancer Products stoped being made

I was at my local shop and was told that because of the change to the 04 Lancer they will stop making and distrubuting 03 Lancer products as there will be a less of a need for them.

If any one else out there has heard of anything like this let me know

ok assuming that the 2004 will have three models..regualr, ralliart.and evo. i dun see why they would stop making parts for the regular lancers. i think i read that the engines will still be the same and the only change would be cosmetically. if the engine, suspention and everything remains the same then parts will still be made i assume. this is just my opinion. i might have wrong facts about the 2004 but then again im to lazy to research anymore. but then again if the whole car does change then i would assume they would stop parts.

Federal regs. require that they maintain a parts inventory and produce parts OEM parts for the car for at least 10 years. If a manufacturer chooses not to do so, they must replace your car. Being that Mitsu doesn't want to buy us all new cars, I bet they'll keep making parts for them.

Aftermarket parts will continue to be made. They won't come out at a high rate of production, but they don't exactly come flying out of nowhere right now.

I wouldn't worry much about lack of new stuff until after 2005, when all the old Lancers have been sold.

and if the parts are still being produced, expect the prices to go up more, unless the company has an overstock and you can get a nice discount... like honda parts.. everyone has one so parts are as cheap as buying a skateboard for them meddling kids!

Remember folks, the only engine being changed is the Ralliart Edition getting the MIVEC 4G64. The 4G94 will still be used in the other versions.

eerrggggg. this just poses a huge dilema.

In a way, I'm glad they're bringin out a new generation of the lancer, because that means there will be less of our cars around and the streets won't get poluted with them like they are with civics.

But in the other direction, its definatly going to be a detearant for companies to start making more after market parts

Kinda seems to me like we'd better get our hands on everything we can now, cause in a couple years it sounds like its going to be hard to find.

It's not necessarily a new generation, but a revision. Chassis and everything is the same, just different body panels. Again, the 4G94 will still be around, BUT the MIVEC 4G64 will also be available.

LIke here in Toronto it is tough enough to find what it is that you are looking for, and if they decide to stop making less aftermarket product that will suck

It doesn't matter how much RRM backs us (even though it's much appreciated), it's all up to the aftermarket companies weather to make products or not. As of now, the only thing I think is missing for our cars is struts and brakes, and RRM won't have much push in those areas, except for making Porterfield get their brakes to actually fit.

god are you all not reading these other peoples post or just ignoring them our engine will still be around. the mivec will be the top of the line lancer excluding the evo of course. the base model will still be around which means the parts will still be there think about hondas. Do you see more Si's and type-S or do you see more ex's and regulars ones... you see more of the later b/c of the price of those cars. Which means we should have plenty of parts out there for a decent amount of time. and jay if you are as worried about the suspension as you seem to be, get coilovers. thats just my .02
