So I have 35% tint on my car. At least thats what I was told when I bought it and had it installed.

Today I went in for my first state inspection since my 09 Lancer is exactly 1 year old now. The garage fails me and puts a big red R sticker on my windshield. The guy is a total *** and we start btching back and forth. He brings out the photometer and puts it on all my windows, the readings are going from 29% - 32% and I see a label on the machine that says its accurate within +-2%. Anyways he keeps being a total dick to me and says he will pass me if I pay him to tear the tint off. I said screw that and left.

Went a mile down the street to a different garage asked if they could do me a favor and check my window tint with a photometer, he says sure and brings it over, each window registers 35-37%. He said I should go back and get my money back or get a passing sticker. I told him I would rather pay to have my car reinspected right then and there (only 29$).

After getting my Passing sticker from his garage, I drive right over to the other place and confront the guy who was dicking me over about the tint an hour earlier. I show him the new passing paperwork and point to the new inspection sticker on my windshield. He starts arguing with me and swearing in some other language. I told him I called the MA state inspection hotline and will be filling a claim against him and his shop. Got back in my car and drove away

Such BS we have to deal with here in MA.

 

Thats stupid as hell. Ive never been inspected on my tint when getting my car smogged. Only thing they really look at here in Vegas is to make sure you pass emissions. Other than that they don't care.

 

What a 'tard. That's why I didn't tint my front windows even though everybody bugs me that it would look way better. They are hardcore in BC about NO tint on the fronts. I'm glad we don't got to do inspections over here.

 

I have a feeling he wasnt there for Emissions inspection. He was there for the safety inspection.

 

yea its just the annual state inspection for MA. Everything from brakes to exhaust to I guess window tint.

wow u guys actually gotta get tint passed by law wtf thats the gayest thing ive ever heard. that 1st shop sounds shady, did u get ur money back?

 

I passed 3 state inspections, got pulled over once for speeding, and got one warning at 3 am on a one way alley after almost getting car jacked (cop intervened). I never heard one word about my tint...one day I pull into the parking lot at PSU york and a cop pulls up behind me. It is raining out side so I gather my books and notes in my car about 10 minutes later I get out thinking the cop is there for another reason. The cop yells "get back in your car".... long story short I am 15 minutes late to class, soaked, and have a ticket for the window tint that was on my car when i bought it three year prior, THREE !@#$ing years. PA sucks

 

Time to go to court with your bill and papers that you passed inspection. Happy winning.

 

I live in Boston and I justed failed mine... MA law sucks, tints have to be 35% all around. My rears were 15 I was driving around with no inspection sticker for at least 2 months and never got pulled over for it (tint & inspection) but got a ****load of seatbelt tickets

 

Yea, I guess what ticked me off the most was when the dumbfck said I could pay him to tear the tint off so I could pass the inspection. We're talking about 35% tint here not 5% or even 20%. Damn idiot.

 

Some bastard asked me for 3 times the cost for inspection to do it under the table for me and I'd pass.. It's cheaper to take off the tints and buy some new ones and have my cousin put em back on. I told him to suck it

 

i have 5% all the way around (recently changed windshield to 35% so wifey could see lol) and a letterhead from my Opthamologist stating i have photophobia and cannot have my eyes exposed to direct sunlight even with sunglasses....ya i get pulled over for it sometimes but no tickets. the inspection places overlooked it after i got that letter....thank god tho i live in a state now with no inspections lol but the cops do carry photometers now. ....and to guapoholic, same **** happened to me (with a new car and before i got my letter) where i previosly lived so i ended up borrowing a razor from them and ripped it off in their parking lot dumb $#!t

 

Need a garage in Boston area that will pass me with below 35% in front. I'm not scraping it off just to put it back on. I waited until the end of the month! urgh.: mad:
