Coffee, Hot weather and a Lancer do not mix

Figured I would share this with the community. I go to college at the University of Rhode Island and have owned a 2009 lancer for less than a month. I left my car overnight next to a half full cup of iced coffee and some d bags. I had a bad feeling about leaving it there but figured it would be ok. The next day I went out to my car and noticed the coffee cup was empty but at the time didn't see anything on my car. I later found out after washing it that the coffee had actually dried onto my paint(drivers side door) and ate away at the clear coat because of the sugar in the coffee and the hot weather that day. Now I am faced with a $300 repair on my door and have no idea who did it and the warranty does not cover this sort of thing. I am pissed and figured I would vent it out here.

The moral of the story, if you ever have a gut feeling about something usually go with it. Thanks for reading.

Your Comprehensive coverage on your insurance should cover Vandalism... I'm an insurance agent....
Depending on your deductible it may be less or more than the $300 repair check into it!

I looked into it and it seems that I have a $200 deductible. I believe the insurance company is going to come look at it and take and estimate the repair costs on it. Hopefully I'll get something to fix my door.

Haha I would do the same. The story actually worked out for me. I got the damage wet sanded for $40 and it looks brand new. Luckily I didn't have to repaint the door on my new car. Thank you to all who showed concern.

Sucks man, at least you got it fixed for cheap. If I saw someone defacing another lancer I would tie them to the back of my car and top out my car down the freeway.
