Hp

Today I went to the fall import nationals at Raceway Park. There was a rain delay, didn't start anything untill after 3 oclock. They had free dyno tests for all racers. I don't have a scanner so I can't show you a chart, but my brother does so when I go to his house I will be sure to post it here. The main reason I did it was for a baseline before I get boosting. My current mods are short ram intake, RRM header, RRM testpipe, and RMR rear section. My max hp was 109.3 at 5800 rpm, max torque is 114.4 at 4300 rpm. the torque curve is generally flat and has a slight fall off at about 5500rpm. at 6000 rpm there is still 105hp and 91 ft lbs of torque. So going by a general 15% drivetrain loss thats 128.5 hp and 134.5 ft lbs. at the crank. So if 15% is right (not sure) then thats only a gain of 8.5 hp and 4.5 ft lbs for peaks. I don't have a stock chart so I don't know if the gains across the board were bigger, but these #'s don't impress me. I was told the header alone should net 10-15 at the wheels . Butt all in all my car is much more responsive, more torquey, funner to drive and has lost a second in the quater mile since being stock. I hope this helps anyone who wants real power to know that these parts help, butt we need forced induction!!!

hum, i wonder if perhaps your car was just a weak 1 of the line....or if rrms graph was "fixed" a bit with there ecu, i think the ecu would help but not an extra 20whp ? idk, best of luck

Or get nitrous. But get pistons first. But get a new car first.

I just posted to help make people realise that a header and exhaust is NOT going to give you 20hp. I don't care what these companys tell you, it ain't happening unless its a big 8 cyl or turbo.

Oh ya. Maybe if you get every bolt on for your engine you can think of, then maybe they will be running at there full potential.

Like getting an intake, but then you need the tb, but then the intake manifold to help that, then headers, then the test pipe, then exhaust.

I have heard that a stock lancer dynos at 102-103 and what I gained really is not bad, its kind of good. I am speaking from seeing alot of people get let down thinking that all of there little bolt ons are gonna give them 50hp. today I got my time down to a 16.2 at 83.7mph, so no I don't have a weak one you just don't know enough about this topic to talk.

Not tryng to be a dick, but in the real world a header gives you 3 hp and an intake and exhaust give you 2 on a 4 cylinder. I'm just handing out facts, Take em or leave em. I also got down to a 16.2@83.7 today. Ask other NA guys what there running and what mods they have, OH, and tell them they must have weak ones too.

Tryng to stay civil, just letting them know that an intake and exhaust aren't going to give you a race car. maybee the header gives you 10 horse somewhere in the powerband, but not peak. I don't have a baseline before so I can't be sure it doesn't, but I will try to get a stock chart. Also your throttle response will be much better giving the illusion of more hp. What's your opinion Iamkar?
