If you want to go fast in a straight-line and care about nothing else, maybe turbo the OZ. However, its probobly better off in the long-run to just trade the OZ in and get a NEON SRT4 - at least it will have a warranty.

However, if you want something more than a drag-racing car - - then get the EVO - IF you can afford it.

Based on his post, he seems to have made a mistake. If he wants to go fast, he's better off with an SRT4 or an EVO (if he wants more than straight-line power) - IF he can afford it.

Speaking from experience....If an insurance company finds out that you've turbo'd your car you can kiss your insurance good-bye. Furthermore if you "crash" your turbo car and try to make a claim, and the insurance company finds out your car is turbo'd you can and probably will be charged with insurance fraud....i.e. you made a representation that your car is X, when in reality your car is X+ and now you want them to pay for X, when the + is probably why you crashed it in the first place.

Turbo your car, just make sure you know the problems when it comes to insurance before hand.....

i_love_spool, I disagree with you: I had a turbocharged civic that was stolen and stripped. The insurance covered everything that was on the car that was aftermarket... Maybe it was just good insurance, but I think they also look at the investment you make, and if you pay for more than the minimum coverage, they'll take care of you... although, I still don't think it's worth it to turbocharge a lancer

And the insurance company knew that your car had all those parts on it and you paid for it....or you just said "hey i also put $xxxx of mods on the car and you're on the hook for that".

If so I gotta raise the B.S. flag. Comprehensive coverage takes the value of the car as it comes from the dealer and the insurance company assesses how much they will cover if its stolen. If you didn't tell them you had $xxxx of parts on the car and paid the "stock" premium then got all the money back then two things:

1) They're idiots.....biggest ones I've ever met. You should dump $100,000 into your WRX and have it stolen just so they can fork out $100000 lol.

2) Wow they're idiots

Actually, I didn't tell them beforehand what I had on the car. When it was stolen, I spoke to the woman in charge of my claim and explained to her how much I had invested in the car and listed everything I had put on the car, the price I paid (with receipts) and they took depreciation. They were reimbursing me for MY loss. I lost a lot, and they gave it back to me to get another car. It doesn't mean that people are idiots, it means that they take care of their customers, like an insurance company should do instead always trying to scapegoat out of things. It is not fraud either, I didn't put all that stuff on the car and then intentionally have it stolen. I didn't even know if I would get reimbursed, but I did. What's with the negative attitude?

I think you're missing the point of FINANCE. If he needs to SAVE 6g's for a turbo kit, chances are STILL pretty good he won't be able to make the payments on an Evolution. Think about it.

I can afford to drop more than the cost of an Evo into my car, but not on a monthly basis. When I have the money I can spend it. I cannot however pay for an Evolution monthly and still live the way I'd like to.

And personally I couldn't care less about an evo "beating" me. Building cars is fun, and not everyone wants to be on top.

If it weren't for people modding inexpensive cars, you probably wouldn't be driving an Evolution.
