This forum was originally www.lancerforums.com and most of you probably go through this site now; but as the Lancer Evolution evolved from the Lancer this site evolved into www.evolutionm.net . Well, I hate to break it to you all who think that Evo owners are asses, yes some are, but you have to realize that they came to this site for the same reason. I'm not sure how many of you have noticed in your recent rantings, but if you go the Main/Home page, you'll see something:

And to me, wether or not they diss me, we all have something in common, we're car enthusiasts, and other than force us apart, we have to look past the bad apples and move onto better things.

Oh well, have fun, but that's my last point.

first of all to all evo... lancer disser... the speed limit is still 65 it doesn't matter how much power you're putting out we all get from point A to point B the same way, some just get there faster then others.... We tune cars to make it the way we want them to look like, they express the way we are... not to compare and compete and see who can make the fastes lancer or compare evo's to lancers. My buddy and i both have lancers his is an evo and mine is a OZ, but he never blows by me and act like he's better then me cuz he's got an evo.... and people lets not forget that the 271hp is not whp.... WE ARE ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY!!!!!!!!

I got a Lancer in 2002 and it has been my daily driver and my hobby since. researching different mods and slowly modifying the car into a sleeper. Most people do not expect it to have the pick up that it has since it is a Lancer. It is still economic and I have driven around 50000 miles in 1 and half years going from the midwest to the east coast, it is a great car to drive since it handles very well with the appropriate mods. Yes it is not an Evo but with gas at the current prices I would not be able to enjoy driving it all over like I do with the Lancer.

I hear what you are saying. I may have just joined evom.net but I've owned my Lancer since Aug 2002. 2 years ago.

Lancer/Evo

Greetings,

Hope some Lancer owners just smile when they see an Evo coming, instead of trying to race us and pull some dangerous and stupid driving maneuvers. Also, I notice this a lot when I'm on the road, Lancer drivers are a little less friendly than a Rex or an Sti drivers (is it the hp envy or something else?) Lancer owners/enthusiasts, please just stay cool there's a lot of lesser cars out there for you to race, be kind to your ego and hey, it's just a car.

Because they look good ... hmm, ya think .. I do. I own an Evo, and I love seeing the Oz's and kitted out ESs in my area. They look good, and the folks that drive them are a heck of a lot more responsible than a lot of the folks in kitted out Hondas etc. Saw a very nice charcoal gray one last night on my way to drop my son at scouts.
(intersection of 377 and Basswood, in case you happen to be reading .. nice ride)

Bottom line we are all Lancer owners, some of us have an ES, some have an Oz and some have Evos. The bottom line is we are community, and whether someone has customized the interior, exterior, modded their engine or even simply left their car stock ... everyone should be treated as a lancer owner until they provide legitimate reason to dump on them. Folks that don't give props to effort expended, well, they've just provided legitimate reasons to the rest of us ..

Kudos to those who take the time and effort to improve their Lancers and/or make them a statement about who they are and what they like to do.

Someone asks me what kind of car my Evo is, my response is always "Lancer Evolution VIII" ... I'm proud to own a Lancer, and just lucky to have an Evo.

Raymerd - I wasnt asking the question to get a smart a$$ reply. I was asking because I hear all the time from my fellow lancer guys about the "hate" etc coming from EVO owners and stuff so I was curious as to why make them look the same. I'm all for customizing your car and making it look great regardless of what platform it is. There is a Charcoal colored one in my area that is sooo sweet. I give him props everytime I see him. Bottom line with me is if you take the time to modify and personalize your car then we all have at least that in common regardless of wether its a Lancer ES, OZ or EVO........

It's a hobby to mod your car up. I realize that our lancer's come stock w/ low hp but it's fun to customize it. I have an ES model the lowest model lancer there is. I'm having fun putting mods on it. Now it looks completely different from when I first bought it 2 years ago. I know I'll prob. never win in a race against an evo or ralliart or any car for that matter but it's fun to work on and customize your own car.

It's all about perception and what's important to you. It makes no impact, in the real world on your status or personal value. I personally like performance cars, and the Evo is an amazing one. There is not another mitsubishi I would even remotely consider, and If I wanted a base level car would get a Toyota. But that's just me. I think you are going to find that a lot of Evo owners do not connect to the idea of the EVo-Lancer dyad being a community, because other than the basic body and bits, the cars are quite radically different. Most Evo owners, if they had not bough the Evo, would have been more likely to buy an Sti, S2000, G-35, 350Z, etc....it's no slight intended, but they are very different communities of buyers.

Sorry, but you when you start a sentance out with something like "not to be a smart ***" or "with all due respect", its not usually an honest statement. If someone likes the looks of the evo but either can't get or can't afford or whatever an Evo, and the body kit is in reach, then as you said "make it look great", if the Evo look fits that bill for you.

Anyways, the apology is sincere.

I can see where your coming from. The reason I prefaced my question that way was to avoid a flame war about it as I was just curious as to the specifics of it thats all.
