New to the forum and also new to the lancer fam
Hello I'm spigles just bought a 2003 lancer es. Its a fixer upper so far I haven't done much to it since I work almost everyday all day. But I need a new cat on it. Was wondering if I can get rid of it and swap it with a test pipe. Sorry I know very little about motors or any of that. My father was my go to guy until he passed away.

Hi and welcome!

It's great to see more Lancer owners checking in! I'm going to move your question to the Lancer forum where I'm sure a fellow owner will be happy to answer your question.

Bob

make sure you have them checkd , any codes thrown by the idiot light aka ses?
what do you have under your car exhaust wise? oem or catback ?
i had a similar exp but it wasnt the downstream cat but the upstream one built into the header witch cost me alot to replace, like $500. flip side it was built by magnaflow out of stainless steel ( header/cat combo ) and came with a 5yr warrenty. i still have my original cat thats downstream on my car and from their all allumin piping for my catback exhaust system... city driving sounds awesome and cops out here dont bother me
testpipes are cheaper and drop right in and make sure u get a cel eliminator plug just incase the ses light goes off..

Really I'm not going to lie I know nothing about my car or any car to tell you the truth. My dad tried teaching me when I was younger and always got mad throwing tools and what not so I let him be
I was under car yesterday found the the noise. I would post a picture but I don't know how. And past the cat which is OEM around a cover the makes a 90 degree turn towards the driver side then a 90 degree turn the rest of the way back to rear of car.
