ATTN: PG888 questions about your ride

did you do the interior of your car?

I decited I want to fix up the way my car looks on the inside I'm sick of it being stock I was thinkin of going with a blue theme (since I got a black car and blue would go with the recaro's) What do you think bout painting all the plastic blue??

I have never done this

I have only a kick *** system in my interior for now but im thinkin Sparco or Recaro for the whole interior...perhaps in black or gunmetal. One LCD screen in the dash is all which is planned for the Multimedia in the future. I would love to replace the steering wheel with something smaller, the EVO wheel is nice but over done. I just dont have the guts to take out my airbag we will see. I'll keep er'body posted.

Blue can look good, especially if you have the black dash Hottness

Also when painting make sure to prep the surfaces properly (ie: sanding, etc...) The how to is on here somewhere...You take your time in this and it'll come out soome and shiny

but same type of paint you would use to paint the outside of your car? I'm going to need to get an airbrush too then... is clear coat or primer needed?

ok after 3 layers (primer paint clearcoat) will the pieces fit back where they should? lol

I have never done anything like this before should I consider having a shop do it... cause I don't want to screw up my Evo but at the same time I would rather not spend the extra unless I need to

not to **** in your cherios or anything, but I dont understand this in the least. In about 6months to a year, it will look like crap, there will most likely be chips, scuffs, scratches etc on varios places. Furthermore keep in mind that the plastic is textured, so its going to look like a massive bunch of orange peel.
The resale value of the car is going to fly down the drain.
Everyone will laugh at you.
The next owner is going to hate you for it. Look how cool my car was when I bought it from the previous ricer... i mean, owner

and after TONS of money spent on all new interior plastics it looks a little better

HP this paint added? about 10; Rice factor added? 200%

This stuff cant be taken off with paint thinner if you decide to go back, paint thinner will melt the plastic. If your successful in gettin it off with any chemical without hurting the plastic, a blue shiny residue will be left in place of the paint which will not come off without paint thinner which will kill the plastic, or sanding... which will kill the finish.

I mean, its up to you, it is your car, but IMHO its a very poor choice to remove interior plastics and paint them. To each his own though. Just think about the long term.

And if you do decide to go along with it, use a flex additive in the paint, and a plastic bonding agent to prep the plastic with. Exterior metal primer will not work and will most likely flake off down the road along with the paint.

I enjoy a painted interior. Personally though I have absolutely NO plans of EVER selling my car unless it's piece by piece, so resale value/appeal is not an issue. Certainly something to keep in mind however. If you don't realize the short and long term effects of any mod though, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

I completely agree, and when done right, painted interiors (assuming everything matches, stitching, plastics, leathers, etc) can be awesome!!!
But when done cheaply, or wrong.... well....
