I've been doing some thinking...

I been doin some thinkin...

the Evo will probably cost $27,000.

Now, I know I can't afford a down payment. Since I've been a customer of my local dealer for many years they let me but just taxes down as my downpayment.

$27,000 = $450 a MONTH + Intrest = $477

Insurance on my friend's WRX Comes out to be $3600 a year.
AND THATS CONSIDERED LOW IN NYC, QUEENS!

So, thats $777 a month for a car....WOW, i must be crazy...my dreams have now stopped....

I guess some of you also have to do some thinking about monthly payments...Alot of people on the board are saying they are getting it the day it comes out...but have you guys thought about all the payments over all with insurance?????

sports cars = high insurance.

I'm 20 and I make $400 a week. With school, car payments, 100 other bills of mine, The only thing i see in my dreams is a Financial Nightmare...not the Evo... :crap:

welcome to the real world.
You will be facing these types of decision after college life as well.

So I say good for you to know to only "Window shop" until you can
upgrade your lifestyle after college.

Been there done that.... so here is one advice.
There is always a better car to come around in a few years.
Just make sure to take care of more important things in life before
a car hobby.

Yea I hear yea, it can be steep. :(

However for me, that’s only roughly 150 more a month then what I'm paying now, so it's not really that big of a deal. Actually, you may want to check what "your" insurance would come to on a wrx. I know a wrx for me is cheaper then what I'm paying now however I forget exactly how much. It really does come down to your zip code and driving record.

Check the numbers, it may not be that far off after all. :)

From now to Jan '03, you can save a few bucks for a down payment to lower those monthy payments.

What about selling your car when the Evo arrives, thats a hell of a down payment...unless your car is leased...:crap:

nyclancer Mar 20, 2002 04:06 AM

Finance wont be over by then to sell

...I just have way too many bills, and I help my father pay the mortgage every month (my brother and I both pitch in)

Owning a car like a Evo is totally different from owning any other car. You WILL have to sacrifice many other aspects of life to really own one.. I did... and I am happy! I even went to the extent of changing jobs to make more money to buy the car!

EvoSouL Mar 20, 2002 04:36 AM

life's a *****...

most of my hard earned money goes to paying rent...dumb rent, and 30% goes to paying taxes...
you're still in school and very young.
I believe with the Evo, Mitsubishi is aiming towards the young adult/middle aged men who earn a fair amount of income.

Holy crap! Right now I'm paying under $900 CAN (about $650 U.S.) a year of insurance. I already got a quote for the Evo and it will only cost around $200 U.S. per year more, totaling around $850 U.S. a year for insurance. I think I'll stay where I am.

I never heard of anything that low; I guess it really depends on the area, the insurance carrier, age, driving record, etc. However, I live in SoCal and insurance just for a civic costs well over $1000 a year.

I like the fact that the car will be close to $30K since it will help keep the car out kiddies' hands. This in turn will help the insurance stay at reasonable levels, unlike what is happening with the WRX. Rates are still increasing for the WRX, as insurance companies see all the accidents involving the WRX.

But of course you'll always have mommy and daddy buying their spoiled little kid an Evo.

It's for sure the price of the Evo will keep a lot of kids drooling because there's no way possible they can afford one unless they graduated college and earn at least $40k, or like mentioned before are spoiled silly. Anyhow, I have a friend who spends most of his income just paying off his WRX and adding some mods. I've figured my calculations out with no down, 5 yr plan +tax, +finance, etc. +insurance, will come out to be $800 in total monthly payments just for an Evo. Then you have rent, utilities, food, etc., ..... basically my point is that you have to have a darn good paying job to drive an Evo

RaX Mar 20, 2002 05:07 AM

... or you live in a cardboard box.

I'm 21, gots no rich mummy or daddy, no degree and definitely WILL be getting an Evo... so look out, you'll still have crazy kiddies on the street. Social and economic classes aren't always as clearcut as they seem.
