Electric impact wrench

I don't have the money to buy the air tools and the compressor and all that crap. A store close-by has an electric impact wrench on sale this weekend. How good are the electric ones, compared to the air tools

Impact wrench specs:
AMPS 7.5
RPM 2,100 rpm
BPM 2,700 bpm
Torque 228 ft-lb
Chuck Size 1/2" square drive

ive used an electric impact wrench, and as long as you stick with a good brand, you'll be fine. the one i use does just as good of a job as any air one ive used. for really really demanding bolts, it may take a little more for an electric wrench to get it loose, but nothing that a little PB blaster cant solve :)

I was about to say that an electric impact wrench can't put out the torque that an air wrench can, but looking at those 228 is plenty. My father's Makita only puts out about 75, and it gets most jobs done, but not the same as his air wrench.

What would be a good one to get because i dont want(Cant afford) to buy a compressor and all that stuff too?

I had one, it sucked. I dont remember the brand, but I threw it out after the 2nd use. It was BAD news.

Check out reviews online to see which wrenches are better to buy. I checked some out and I feel the DeWalt or Milwaukee wrenches are the best bang for the buck. From what I see from the reviews, however, is max torque ratings are overexaggerated.

Save up for the compressor! I feel every home should have one. That will be my first purchase when I move out.

Do you need one of the ones with the bigasstank and all that?

My friend just bought a compressor at Home Depot for $250 us and it came with an impact wrench, hammer, rachet, spray gun, sockets, and I believe a chisel (spl?) so I say save up for the compressor.

Get yourself a GOOD quality electric gun and it'll do the job of an air wrench. Not as much power, but as long as the quality is right, you'll be ok. Coming from me, "Destroyer or Airguns", I know what breaks and what wont. I can kill them all.

Nah, ours is teeny. To be honest, I don't know how big it is, because I can't see it - it's small enough to be hidden behind the little space heater.

I got a Chicago Electric electric impact wrench from Harbor Freight Tools for a whopping 40 bucks.. use it all the damn time.. works fantastic.. just loud as hell... but has gotten off some SERIOUSLY fubared bolts as well.

does the air tank have anything to do with the lbs you can put on a nut?

and do you have to have the air sompressor running all the time to use the air tools because that would be a pain in the ass with all the noise
