Anyone get the leather?
Three weeks ago I've seen two fully loaded (CVT+navi) 2008 Lancer GTS models with installed leather for $25,000. Guess what, they were sold within couple of days. Who would have thought that someone would actually spend that much money on a Lancer. Anyway, the front leather seats had a GTS stitched imprint and the graphite grey Lancer had black leather with blue stitching and the rally red lancer had black leather with red stitching (very nice).
On another note, I am pretty close with the manager of the dealership and he told me that in the past month he has sold 18 GTS models and only 3 DE/ES models (which I guess seems to be correct because when I first went to check out the new Lancers, he had a bunch of GTS models on the lot, last time I was there he had only one). The predicted sales were that the DE/ES would seem to be the sales volume leader, but in his case this is not true and not even close. Basically he said that he is stuck with DE/ES models because the price difference between ES and GTS (when you take a 48/60 month loan with a $2000 downpayment) is minimal ($25-$35 on each payment). So what they'll start doing is take DE/ES models and install the groundFX kits on them just like the GTS models.

Katzkin has the contract with Mitsu for the leather. Infact, when you order leather and the aftermarket company places the order, they have to get a RO number from the dealer first instead of just buying direct.
The company I just left does these. It is a huge aftermarket trim company. The leathers are top notch IMHO and are not slip overs. The cloth skins need to be removed with all the hog rings and plastic trim. The install is the reverse order and if done right looks very nice.
We charged the dealer 899 for these cars and the kits are right about 500. And with Mitsu in the loop on this, there won't be much finding them for a cheaper price and dropped shipped. A regular guy can not buy these from Katzkin.
However, one could go to any shop that does this and they can get it done for you, but it will involve the dealer.

Getting Leather w/Heat and Ventilation
I was pissed my dealer did not offer the leather so I could roll it into my financing. I am glad now, becuase i went to a Katzkin dealer and they can do the seats the way i want. I really am not interested in the all black and definately not the non-perforated style. The dealer has two designs that are offered and one has pleated inserts and also they come in perforated, which makes them more comfortable. I also talked to the installer about heaters and ventilation. He said it was not a problem. The out the door price with leather, two tone, perforated and with the heaters and cooling fans will be @1650.00, which is not much more than the 1200 the dealer wanted for plain black seats. I am hoping to be able to get everything done in the next couple weeks. I am just deciding on the final colors. If anyone does do leather I would definately look into the cooler fans also, I have them in a Lexus my fiancee and I bought recently and they make the leather so much better when it is hot out.
I would love to get two tone black and dark charcoal grey, perforated with heating, red and white stitching, and a small mitsu red symbol and Lancer stitched in the head rests. But I also want the door inserts and other bits as well as the center rest done in leather to match.
If anyone lives in New Jersey by Rahway or Linden.....Bell Mitsubishi in Rahway NJ off Route 1 And 9 they have GTS with Leather interior.....With Lancer Gts on it , in all black and alittle Red and All Black with alittle Blue, very Nice.....think they want 22k without nav and more with.

You know, initial articles and descriptions showed dual zone as an option or listed it, but none of the GTS's I have seen nor the official site have it. The automatic is there, though it's not much more than a manual AC system really - just a temp setting that I suppose regulates fan speed, but it's not been hot enough out for me to check that.
Well the price that I am hearing here sounds real expensive. Especially we all know that dealerships are quick to overcharge alot of their accessories. I seen the scuff plates which are chrome and for all 4 doors and it's less then a $100. And they give off a nice accent.
