LED Turn Signals and Brakes

I have been messing with LEDs but have two major problems.

1) all the LEDs ive tried so far aren't as bright as the factory Bulbs

2) if you use them as turns signals, they draw such little power that the car thinks the bulb is burnt out and flashes really fast.

Who has the answer to this one? Where can you get really, Im mean REALLY bright LEDs for brake lights.

retrofit. Something like Infiniti G35 round led's might fit. I have the dimensions of the lights and found some plain 3" round LEDs but at 140 a pair i'll hold off for a while.

get a new flasher I would think...but then again I would have to look at the schematics, it might not have a flasher, just be controlled by an ECU.

something I found. I read the whole schematic for the turn signals and still a little lost (and I read them all day at work.) Usually I can figure them out no problem, but I think they run from the column ECU to the ETACS ECU (fuse panel) and then out to the lights... but this part of the schematic does say something with LED's??? hmmm maybe I will ask the tech when I am in next week at the shop.

There is this thig that they sell just for that problem with the led's flashing fast, I really cant remember what its called but they sell it at autozone in the part where they sell the bulbs. Im sure other stores like it sell too and its not expensive, i think less that 20$.

That thing he's trying to remember is probably just a big resistor. Since the LED's draw such a small load, there isn't enough of a power draw. Look into what power your LED is, what power the stock bulb is, and make up the difference with a resistor placed in series with your LED. That should do the trick, and it'll def be less than $20 depending on where you go to get it.

ok, if you are serious about this then go to www.hidplanet.com/forums under the LED section and you can learn there what you need to know.

you are diving into something that is not cut and dry. your electrical engineering design should take a couple of weeks because its not going to be so simple either since you are wanting to do a retrofit.

lumiled superflux is what you would need to use and cost can range up to 1.50 per led.
