evo 8 TB on 4g94...issues?
evo 8 TB on 4g94...issues?
Okay, so I'm thinking of getting an '03 evo TB to swap out my stock one, and was told there was some thread around discussing it (as apparently you have to swap some wires to get it to work). The search function won't let me search for "TB" and I know hardly anyone actually spells out throttle body. Found a bunch of FS threads which made me happy, but nothing talking about what wires need to be swapped on the TPS (i'm assuming). Any help?
I plan on this being upgrade number one in the TB/intake mani for me, next will be to invest in a powdercoated mani from RRM, and a nice polished aftermarket TB once I figure out how to keep the cruise control
Yeah, i know, but I like it.
Anyway, any help or redirection would be appreciated.

I think the thread you're looking for is https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/la...b-4g93-im.html
There is a wiring deig. in there but it doesn't mean much to me.
It sounds like they are just saying the Evo has the same three wires but a diff. harness so you need to cut and splice.
Also I think you can just use your factory TPS and bolt it onto the new TB.
If this is the case like I think I'm reading, that would be easy as hell.
In all my research I did come to one conclusion though... people do not write in forums in a way that every else can understand what the hell they're talking about.
Half the time it's like they're speaking in code.

Here is a video of how to fix the cruise control once you replace TB with RRM one.
Works great.
Might help you with yours.

cool cool. i'm thinking I'll have to hack some material off of the stock tb and weld in place on the evo tb to give me roughly the same mounting points, or at the very least decrease the gap so I can weld it easier. I'm going to have to figure something out to keep everything nice and level when i mount it...definitely has to be pretty specific to work correctly with the throttle.
I'll be taking pics and posting them up as more of "this is what I did" than a how-to
I'll try to make the welds as nice as possible, but I only have a $300 Mig with a fatty tip, so I don't know how clean everything's going to be (depends on how close I can weld to it). I would love to have a Tig, but you know how that goes. I'll try to grind stuff down and pretty it up as much as possible. I'm assuming that the tension on the assembly is pretty good, so I'm going to make the welds as good as I can to make sure I don't run into any cracking/shifting issues.
