09 Lancer GTS. Doors won't stop locking Help please
Hi there! I just purchased a used 09 Lancer GTS. I love it but the doors keep locking.
Example: Today I unlocked the doors with my remote and put my son in the backseat of the car. Then I shut his door and returned my buggy to the buggy location. By the time I got back to my car all the doors were locked again. Why? If I hadn't have had my key in my hand he would have been locked inside. It does this at my house also. If you unlock the doors and pop the trunk via the remote the doors are locked again by the time you shut the trunk lid. How do I fix this? |
Im not sure of the stats but I think the doors auto lock after 60 seconds. You can probably find out for sure in the owners manual.

Can it be turned off? I looked through my manual but I couldn't find anything on it.
Thanks |
jw do you have the navi that came as optional? if so there are functions under that, that will allow you to change the times. ill take a look through my manual that i have.

I don't know if it can be turned off, but I know that if it senses the key is inside the car, it won't auto-lock it. So, the cheapest fix would be to hand your son the key, I guess.
Personally, I like it. Sure, it's one more button to press, but this means that it usually locks itself even if I brain-fart on locking it. 60 seconds seems like a pretty short interval, though. Usually I have to wait at least a few minutes before it locks itself. If there's no information in the owner's manual, maybe one of the local dealership techs can tweak the settings for you. Good luck! |
