there is a slight problem as the 4G94 TB does not properly fit the 4G93 manifold. Therefore producing a slight air leak and idle problems. It CAN be fabricated but is not for the non mechanically inclined.

I recently got my 4g93 im installed also. TB bolts up perfectly. Only thing is that the support brackets, both the upper and lower no longer fit. Im wondering if this will cause any problems. Damage or strain put on the im bolts or whatnot.

The support brackets aren't needed. People have removed them from the 4G94 IM and nothing bad has happened.

Most likely the "everyone's doing it" factor.

^ uh to answer your question, the stock motor is a 4g94. The 4g93 flows better, has a larger plenum, and i also ported it. I don't think theres any other option. Either get a 4g93 mani or port out the stock 4g94 mani.

I agree with the larger plenum part. And the fact that you ported it is good.

But to go along with what Rock said - do we have any proof that it flows better? Has anyone ever tested them? I'd be interested in knowing the truth...

OK. That works.

I always preached that the 4G93 was better, but when Rob said that, it occured to me that no one ever really tested. It had just become Lancer Lore.

I'd love to see actual testing. Or dyno testing. But I know neither will ever happen.

I may be wrong, but I think it was Walking Chaos perhaps (?) who did a write-up on installing a 4G93 IM. He had explained why it was better and I think there were pics of both to demonstrate..
I remember the post a while ago, but.. SEARCH anyway

Being that the Plenum is larger, Ive decided to jump on the bandwagon too; especially 'cus its affordable.
Im just not too sure on how to port.
I have a Dremel tool (6 actually haha) but does anyone know the exact measurments/depths ?

i searched and found a few posts on how to do it but basically you mark the openings where the gasket is. Port out using grinding wheels to the markings. Go around 3 to 4 inches into each runner gradually smoothing out the opening. Then polish with flap wheels and your done. Wel thats how i did it and it came out pretty dam good.
