4G64 Can Fit in a Lancer and Mirage

I don't know why it took me so long to find out about this swap, but you can put a 4G64 into a lancer and it fits. Just found out about this and re-posting information that prench and blacklancerr gave me.

http://www.sclc.net/forum/showpost.p...15&postcount=1

to bolt a 4g64 into your lancer, youll have to use:
3g eclipse 2.4 engine
3g eclipse 2.4 5speed tranny / or switch bellhousings
3g starter
3g timing mount
eclipse 97 2.4 ecu or Id get a 4g93 1.8 fed spec ecu with emange
and thats how you gettirdone!

1 modern G64 in a 5g = failed to defeat the immobilzer - used a G93 ecu, not fully reaching its potential. It was barely enough to compete w/ a modern SE-R. Not bad for a handicapped G64.

A hand full of 4g mirages with 2g Eclipse droptop G64.

After going through a swap like that, why on earth wouldn't you just go standalone engine management?

KillahB Oct 2, 2006 05:47 PM

The first guy that did it, wired it all up himself. I dont think he wanted to mess with full EMS to tune with.

HobieKopek Oct 3, 2006 07:26 AM

I think it may have turned out easier, oddly enough. And he certainly wouldn't have had problems with the stock ECU holding him back.

what is an immobilizer?

HobieKopek Oct 3, 2006 08:05 AM

It's usually a circuit that's either embedded in a key or triggered by an RFID that immobilizes the engine if the correct key isn't being used to start the car.

I don't think you're telling the whole truth. The tranny mount doesn't completely line up 100%. Also, I do believe the bellhousing is different, unless using a G64 tranny.
