Man, I can't get any kind of love here. Not like there are so many new threads in this place that mine could get lost or something.

The RA comes stock with a 110 amp alternator, that's pretty big for a car like it.

Stinger makes a good altenator, but my first and best suggestion, (as I run a huge stereo aswell), Go to a local altenator and starter place, ask them to rewire you alt. and you want the most AT idle!! this was done to mine, I am getting roughly 140amps at idle and @ 2000rpm geting closer to 165ish...and it was ALOT cheaper then getting a new one

Must be some system!
Not doubting you at all here, but my buddy had a couple 10 inch subs, 1000 watt amp and 4 aftermarket speakers and he still couldn't overload his k-car alternator
Of course, the stock alt might be no good at idle like someone else mentioned. For that you would need something more powerful.

well, if you do the theory behind a stereo, 1200wrms (true) will take about 100amps to work consistantly!!

There is a place called Mean Green (if I remember correctly) located in Blairsville/Derry, PA. They make the high output alternators for Mobile Spec. Usually will run you about $400 to get one done. See what you can chase up on them and give them a call.

Bumping old thread as I am looking to move up to the Kicker L7 with a 1500W amp. Guys said I need to upgrade my alternator. They gave me two places that do sell them. Ive looked one up so far but the other ahs their website being worked on.

DCPower & Ohio Generator. The tech said that the DCPower one was much better. I saw a 190 amp for $410 and a 220 amp for $489 and lastly a 320 amp for $669. Going to look into this in a little bit.

I used to run a 1500RMS amplifier on my car with 2 12's and had a small problem with lights flickering. I put in a capacitor and they problems went away. Maybe try a capacitor instead of the alternator. You should be able to find a nice one for about $100
