Custom Trunk Install
Hey all... figured I'd post up some pics of my trunk in progress.
Here's a breakdown of what product is going in:
Alpine IDA-X100 Headunit
Alpine TME-740BT 7" Touchscreen
Alpine NVE-781 DVD ROM Navigation
Kicker 6.5" Component Fronts (changing soon to JL C2's)
Kicker 6.5" Coaxial Rears (changing soon to JL C2's or no rears at all and C5's up front)
4 x Treo Tsi 10" Subwoofers
1 x TMA 1000.1 Sub Amp
1 x TMA 360.2 High Amp
1 x Arc Audio 400.4 High Amp
1 x Ixos 1 Farad Capacitor
2 x Tsunami 0 Guage in 4 guage out Distribution Blocks
0 Guage Power wire from front battery (Kinetik 1400R).
0 Guage Ground wire from front battery (Kinetik 1400R).
3 x JL Audio XB-CLRAIC2-18 - 18ft Twisted Pair RCAs
Crankin' 16 guage Speaker wire
Crankin' 12 guage Sub wire
Right now the amps, distribution blocks and eventually the cap are mounted on 3/4" MDF floor, a false floor will be made above this with windows cut out to see the amps and the sub enclosure will be fiberglassed and either painted or wrapped.

Good work so far, waiting to see some more progress though, getting ready to glass mine since im dumping one of the type x's and just going one, tired of not having any trunk space. HA

Yeah... I hope to have some more progress pics up soon... it's hard working at a car audio shop... you get motivated to do stuff when you work on other people's vehicles... but you never feel like actually doing it to your own car when it comes to it... LOL
I'm doing it in my spare time after hours or on my days off but it's going slow because I don't want to rush it and I think I've changed my mind and my setup in my head a million times already.

Thanks guys... trying to find the time and motivation to fiberglass it now and finish my trunk lid... putting a monitor and components on my trunk lid... fiberglassed as well... of course... hehe

Typically you want a short ground why?... less resistance right... but you're relying on the body's ground to complete the circuit of a high current system. How much resistance do you think I have using 0 guage wire across 18 feet? Running a battery ground in a high current system is the best way. Trust me... I've been doing this for a long time.... people think I'm crazy because I have hundreds of dollars invested in power and ground wire alone running through my car.
Why do you think guys on this forum do a big 3 upgrade in the engine compartment. All my engine grounds are 0 guage, my deck ground is 4 guage... think I'm crazy yet... hehe
Anyways... you guys do it your way, I do it mine... that's what makes us all unique...

most competition systems have the amps ground right to the battery, but thats usually not that far away. getting a good ground on a painted sheetmetal surface can be harder than it looks not to mention if you are running a 0 ga power to your amp and have it grounded to the chassis and only have a 4 ga ground to the battery guess what. you have a 4 ga ground on a 0 ga power. just my opinions and two sense. i agree with majestic. but i don't have that type of money to run 0 ga all the way thru the car more than once, thats why im gonna run a second batt in the truck off of my excessive amperage alt.

I don't have a lot of money to run wire through my car either but working at a stereo shop with employee discounts has benefits... hehe
I'll take some pics of the engine bay setup soon too so you guys can see what I've done.
