As for system, Alpine head unit and MP3 changer, factory S&S amp, factory S&S speakers, 10" Infinity basslink. Sounds good at reasonable volume levels which is good enough for me. {thumbup} If there's a song I just *HAVE* to hear from a block away, I ask my best friend to play it in his car. Alpine HU, Boston Acoustics mids/tweets, three 12" JL W7s, and Alpine amps (plural) with power enough to go around. Holy crap can that car make my ears bleed. :lol: |
I never thought to have mine measured. Doesn't really matter to me, though, I built my system to sound good, not to see how many of the people around me I could annoy.

got two type x's (flame away all you sq lovers) on a mtx thunder elite 1501d i never had it measured but at 3/4's volume on the alpine head unit it's hitting hard enough to make the inside rear view mirrors on the neighbors truck vibrate with his windows rolled up.

when I had my ten and twelve I was ~106 IIRC. a buddy of mine happened to have a meter one and we checked it out:lol: not as hard as his 15, but just about as hard as another friends 12. my system is for sound, not noise{thumbup}

only 106? how many watts? |
IIRC it was 106. I :dunno: for sure, because it's not tuned for volume. hell, it's not tuned at all right now because I replaced my 10 and 12 with one 12 at Christmas.
I was pushing two speakers, a Blaupunkt 10 and 12, with a Sony 200x2@4ohms Xplode amp. nothing special, I like to have a nice balanced system. I am now pushing one Blaupunkt 12 with said amp at 500x1@2ohms. I'm missing my 10 but am enjoying the lower frequencies I wasn't getting with the smaller 12 I was using before. this fugger is giant compared to the other 12. how much is more than "only 106" anyway? it seems too loud when I turn it up that high anyway, I can't imagine what more bass would do:dunno: so what's your numbers? |

I had a friend with 3 12w6's with 1400 watts push close to 130 |
yeah, that's quite a lot more power and speaker than I was running.

2X 12" w0 JL audio subs in a perfect box! JL Amp. 400 Rms watts. 140dB! All you need is the right box for the right sub!

there are many "right" boxes for each sub, it depends on what you want from the speaker. for pure boom you should go bandpass, for accurate tonal quality a sealed box. both would be different sizes and shapes, and not everyone wants 140dB overpowering there highs and mids:lol: a buddy of mine let me borrow his three 12" JL's in a custom fiberglass box and it made my rear view mirror jump around eventually facing the floor after I found the right note:lol:. that's not my idea of "good sound" |
i hit 147dbs with 2 10W7s at 500w a piece. changin out to a single 18 juggernaut with 6000w pushing at .5 ohms
