HELP: No sound or really quiet on Rockford Fosgate System
 

My basic system with the ralliart 09 Rockford Fosgate system has been working wonders until about a month ago, when all of the sudden the sound went really quiet on me when driving. The volume is still up about the regular volume I would normally use.

if I crank it up to all the way up, I can start hearing the sound. The system works normally but its still really really quiet even at max volume. And also the main problem is that sometime for some reason the amplified or whatever the issue is kicks sometimes in and it just blows my ears out. It just keeps kicking in and out from quiet to super loud. but I can drive days without hearing much. :confused:

So my questions is the following, what can I do to get a regular sound again, Im thinking wiring on the back of the unit ? I have no idea how to take it apart.

I would suspect the amp itself. A transistor is failing.

Remove and replace (or time to think about an audio system upgrade! ;) )

I think it may be time for a Car upgrade :)

sounds like loose connection...

^on a home-install stereo I would check for loose connection. But an OEM system wiring is usually really quite good. No one else has had the same issue.

The RF amps are cheap... Mitsu only paid for the RF name.

I check the wiring on the existing amp below the seat and couldn't find anything wrong with the set up.

I have been trying to find an amp either stock model rf amp or another one that would fit with the wiring connection so i dont need to build anything or wire anything because lets be honest i have no desire or time to do that lol.

I couldnt find the specs as far as model etc of that stock rf amp so i could just replace it with a new one. Plug it in as it is with exisiting wires and be up and going ?

for the 04-06 lancer, the stock amp uses a DIN cable for audio signals, and remote control...you may need a DIN to RCA/remote adapter, like the reverse of hooking an aftermarket head unit with the stock amp...

Best to just buy an OEM unit off the FS forum (especially the EVO X car part outs) or just eBay[tm]... Any other amp would require wiring...

No known issues (other than yours) so I think you could buy used with confidence.

I had my amp fixed by a company located near me called United Radio Service. My amp had liquid spilled in it and ended up smelling like burnt electronics. They fixed the amp for a flat rate of $250 and gave the repair a one year warranty.
