Carbon Fiber Interior Pieces
Alright, I think I ave a thread about this somewhere or something. I don't know. But anyways, Cerious Performance is making me actual carbon fiber interior pieces for the interior of my Lancer from my stock pieces. After they are done, they will be selling them, or selling the piece after it is finished. They already have the armrest cover out and able to be purchased for a great price of $90.
The thread here is for, what is the most interest in what pieces people want made carbon fiber. I was just tired of having the carbon fiber dash kit and wanted to get the real thing done.
Today I just sent them the piece that goes around the radio and A/C controls to be made, since that is what I wanted the most right now. I am setting up a poll to see which other pieces people are interested in. Go ahead and vote for any piece you want, I set it to make multiple choices, list below if you want something different.
Big ups to Cerious for someone finally going out and doing this, since for so long people wanted actual replacements in carbon fiber in whichever piece the would like.

HVAC, long piece that goes across whole dash, and the center console (that the shifter, cig lighter, and ashtry are on)

Actually the armrest is a replacement....not a cover. If you wanna check it out go to www.ceriousperformance.com and click on Interior.

DIY work!! and if you don't want to let me do it i will be happy to make some money off your lazieness!!! i bet i could make a strut bar, lower tie bar, etc... hell USCOMPOSITS is my vendor!! i dont care how good you are at laying carbon fiber, you arent going to be able to get the weave pattern correct without the proper equipment. if you have to lay the cf by hand you arent going to be able to make the pattern look right and you will end up having to paint the peice, whats the poitn in that.

harcoretuner, go out and make all the cf pieces you want, but having a company making them and being able to supply every single Lancer owner is better than you sitting here taking a whole week trying to make a cf armrest. Do it for yourself if you don't want to spend the money, and stop complainging or these products would never be available.
Go make your cf armrest, I would like to see hwo it comes out myself. And if it does come out good, not everyone on here has the great talent you do, especially myself, that is why I am having it done.

harcoretuner...calm down with that maan. More power to you if you can make the pieces, but like pumpdog said..making it available to the mass market of Lancer owners and having it right everytime is more convenient.
But anyways...yeh that long piece that stretches in the middle, i'd go for that as well

i am not mad people are making more parts for our car, that actually excites me! i am mad that companies make cf stuff and charge an outragous amount of money for it. cf costs ME (i don't get a very good deal obv) $3.50 a sq ft including resin and mold release. and for layers without mold release its only 2.50
to whoever said that i can't lay it with the proper pattern i can do it better than any hood i have ever seen, most hoods, trunks, and other large pieces. don't get me wrong some companies know what they are doing but most like big ones, apc vis etc make so many they lose quality yet they charge a butload.
to the comment that it takes me longer to make a piece this is very true, i do spend some time making molds but once thats done its cake. lots of sanding, i do more of that than laying the cf lol.
and lastly to the guy that wants all that for 100bucks, A) i would but don't have time as i am at college right now B) all that for 100 bucks, your crazy and smaller detailed pieces require a lot more time and effort. big flat things like stuff i named off is easiest and fastest. armrest, hoods, and other panels, big doesn't matter its how many curves it has because the final coat of cf has to be pulled just so otherwise it won't be the correct shape.
for anyone that decided hey will do this feel free to e-mail me with questions or if you need pointers. the best tool you could ever have is a dremel lol it saves lives!!

man im still going to tell you that you are crazy. most companies that do mass production of cf parts, i.e. vis, are required to have machines that are about big enough to fill two garage bays. well you can imagine what kind of money that machine costs, hence the price of the product. also, this particular machine is kind of like a vacuum that pulls all the air away from the product so that the cf weave pattern goes on in a uniform fashion. doing this by hand on a product as large as a hood is nearly impossible. unless you have been working with cf for half your life or something. but eihter way i would definitley like to see some things that you can do, if i am wrong about you i may have a job for you wiht my company haha.
