**** dogg! That looks really good. Don't be afraid to bake your paint on!! That's how I got that super-hard coat on my SRI brace.

here's another tip. when u use the 1200 degree paint, put on an extra layer of paint. then when u are done. take some steel wool (like 0000 grade) and some really fine sandpaper and wetsand the paint til it gets glossy. the 1200 degree paint doesn't seem to be as glossy as the 500 but the wetsanding brings out the shine

You use wet-dry sandpaper, really fine grit. It will be nearby the auto paint anywhere you'd buy that, at the very least. And yes, you do sand it while wet.

Josh- precisely. At least that's what I did. I used the toaster oven that I use to temper tools and set it so the thermometer inside read 300 (about 325 on the thermostat). Sprayed on primer, heat soaked 10 mins, primer, heat 30 mins, remove and let cool, yellow paint, soak 10 mins, cool a little, repeated until satisfied. There may be more precise directions on the can of paint.
For the valve cover you'll probably need to use a conventional oven. I'd turn the vent hood on just in case it starts to smell.

Oh- wire coathangers are great for taking hot things out of the oven without messing up the paint. Make sure you have a place to hang the hot item from.

One of my buddies just did the same thing on his Integra's valve cover in the same color. Once the paint was dry he then took a Sharpy permanent black marker and colored in what would be our "MITSUBISHI 16 VALVE" letters on the cover. It came out so nice! You might want to try that so that you can accent it a little more!

So let me get this right... 500 degree paint isn't good enough? I can't imagine your engine getting much hotter than that.
