HKS Carbon Ti
HKS Carbon Ti
Wow, this muffler is ENORMOUS!!!
I just installed it this morning on my 2.5" exhaust, and NO BULLSH!T... I felt a power gain and not only that, but my gas gauge was on "E".
I drove to the gas station and filled the tank.
Just so Id be sure, cus perhaps it was all in my head (which I knew it wasnt, cus I know my car very very well.) I told my friend to drive it...
Yup! at low end normal driving you can feel it push you into your seat, and the car is just speedier from point A to B, its CRAZY.
I woulda never ever ever expected to notice something that much from just a muffler alone.
Oh and btw... It sounds absolutly sexy. Low throaty and Strong, but also quiet when you start the car and just cruise at normal driving.
Yup... The Best Parts are worth the money.
I love my new HKS

Thank You, I agree haha.
BTW... There are many many many imitations out there. Heres the thing...
HKS is True Carbon wrapped, and Im sure ya'll know how to tell "Real" CF from "Cheapo" CF, so I dont need to get into that.
The Titanium aspect is where you gotta look into.
Titanium aside from its light weight compared to Steel and other alloys, is known for its withstanding high temperatures, and the reason why the tip is Blue, is NOT because its a trendy Muffler style. Its because Titanium is the only metal that turns that nice bright Blue in that smooth fashion without spotting.
HKS does this to the tip, in order to prove that its product is what they say it is.
Thats why its Blue.
Other companys will try and sell you a Stainless Steel muffler and claim its Titanium by putting the Blue on the tip, however thats actually just a paint that uses heat as a catalyst (with some other **** in it that Im not sure whats called) in order to develop that Blue hue effect.
Dont be fooled, Id say even try buying one (a cheap Muffler) on eBay for like 20 bucks, and hold a torch to it for 5 minutes... Itll turn Red or some **** haha
So yeah... Thats why its Blue, etc, etc...

Looks a little too big for my tastes, and I own a greddy. Gotta call BS on the power gains though, somehow I doubt going from one pipe to another pipe is going to give you any real gains, especially in the low end "seat pushing" territory (remember exhausts generally affect the upper end, plus the whole it being an NA lancer).

I wouldnt just randomly make **** up like that, theres no reason to.
Yes, I put it on, and yes there was noticably more power at low end.
Dont imagine it threw me in the back of the seat as if it was some 400hp type thing, Im just sayin' coming from a simple start off a red light, I was being pressed into my seat like it had some noticable torque goin' on, even with the tank on "E".
Logically yeah, one pipe to another, sure... but its not just a pipe, nor is it built the same or designed to do the same thing, cus if so every muffler would be the same. There would be no difference between Magnaflow GReddy eBay HKS or Folgers...
Anyway... I know my car, so youre wrong about this. Period.
Youre right about one thing however... Its GI-MUNGOUS!

Uh huh......a muffler is just a pipe there champ, its not like HKS/JIC mufflers use some magic space metals that give the car an instant 40 hp. It is indeed true, all mufflers are the same, you're basically paying for the name, the sound and the looks. In all likeliness, with the tank on empty you're simply noticing the decreased weight of the car. I notice the same thing but I don't go and attribute it to my new air freshner. Until cause and effect is proven, I stand by my claim of BS or rather optimistic wishing.

The tank was still on "E" before I attatched the muffler dude!
BTW "Champ"... You ever seen the inside of a muffler?
I guess not. Their NOT all the same AT ALL.
Theres a HUGE difference between a Tsudo and GReddy EVO-II
or a Megan Racing and an APEXi N1, and especially an HKS HiPower Series design.
Another example... N/A Mufflers and Turbo Mufflers.
Youre equalizing Oranges, Tangerines, and Clemantines... OR Butter, and Margerine... Their NOT the same.
If so, companies would save money and put cheap mufflers on D1 Nissan Silvias and Opel Rally Cars and ****.
So umm... yeah, Im sooooo bullsh!tting, cus I need to make things up for no reason, other than to be cool for EvoM, or maybe it just gets me off... I dunno.
In fact, it wasnt wishful thinking, cus I didnt expect to see/feel any difference at all, which is why I was so surprised in the first place.
Oh and My seats VS Sparcos... I guess their the same too, so I saved money and made a good choice by not buying "the name". I knoooow you agree with this now dontcha?
Remember that one! ?

It sounds like you did your homework CityKnight. I actually believe that you might get some gains. With your 4-2-1 header and your exhaust maybe you found the best exhaust setup combination for a lancer. Who knows. Dyno time!
All that money...so pertty...and the full catback only makes 1whp over the competition. Keep in mind...do you want to be a form-over-function type of guy....or function-over-form. Beautiful muffler, just something to think about. Congrats on a nice mod!
